A few months ago we showed you the new concept design of Mina and Tim, and of course the little animal masks. In the game, Mina and Tim will find animal masks that grant them powers. We really wanted to let you the possibility to switch the mask physically as well, so we designed them in such a way that masks can be clipped on the head of the character.

We worked with the talented Nassos Apollonatos to create the 3D models. We are really proud today to present you the toys final design: 

Some of you were really eager to see the 3D versions of the different masks, we put hours of hard work into them, hope you’ll love it!

We went to Gamescom in August, so with the 3D models, we made prints in resin of all the objects: the two characters and the masks. The idea was to show the public how the toys will be. It was a great success, we received a lot of great feedbacks <3 Here some pictures of the prints :

Dear all, we have a big announcement to make! After months of reflexion we decided to change the name of game.

Goodbye Onirigami, and welcome to Oniri Islands!

Now we must explain why we changed our name: a lot of people couldn’t pronounce well the name nor remember it really, and at the very beginning of this project there was a link with origami, but now no more. We kept “Oniri” because our story has something to do with dreams, and “Islands” well, it simply takes place on an island, and we hope many more in the future ;)

Hi, there!

Today we are talking about some changes we made in our last prototype, which will have a great impact in your game experience.

A big change is on the camera system, which was fixed in earlier prototypes showcased at Futur en Seine and Gamescom last year. The level was divided into different scenes, each filling the screen of your tablet before going to the next.

To move to the next scene, you had to solve a puzzle and, when succeeded, two portals appeared to put your toys on top of them; the camera would then scroll to the next area:

While this could help us control how each frame would look like and understand your behaviour, it would also reduce your freedom of movement.

Being constantly in one area conveys a feeling of confinement and creates a weird visual feeling between the scale of the toys and the environment, which would be too small. Moreover, this system reduces the opportunities of exploration and just focuses on puzzles and we don’t want that. We want you to enjoy big landscapes, interact with both huge and tiny creatures and immerse yourselves in this beautiful universe.

This is why we are changing our approach. Now, you can move the camera as you move your character:

Since Onirigami is a collaborative game, controlling the camera should be a team decision as well: to move it, just place your toys close to each other on one side of the screen and to stop, just put them away from each other or place them at the center of the screen.
