AWES Overview

The Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) conducts exams to recruit teachers for various Army Public Schools (APS) across India. The posts typically offered include:

PGT (Post Graduate Teacher)

TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher)

PRT (Primary Teacher)

The exam for these posts is known as the AWES Teacher Recruitment Exam.

AWES Exam Structure

The exam is generally divided into two stages:

Online Screening Test (OST)

The Online Screening Test is conducted for all teacher posts (PGT, TGT, PRT).

It is usually a 3-hour exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Part A: General Awareness, Mental Ability, English Comprehension, and Educational Pedagogy.

Part B: Subject-specific knowledge (relevant to the post you are applying for).

Interview and Demo Class

After qualifying the OST, candidates are called for an interview and demo class.

AWES Cutoff Score

The cutoff score for the AWES exam depends on several factors, including:

While the exact cutoff for 2024 isn't available yet, past trends suggest that the cutoff score for each category (PGT, TGT, PRT) tends to hover around:

For PGT/TGT: The cutoff is usually around 50% to 60% for general candidates.

For PRT: The cutoff can be a bit lower, around 45% to 55%, depending on the competition.

General Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: Generally, the upper age limit for PGT/TGT posts is around 40 years (relaxable for certain categories).

Qualifications:

PGT: Master’s Degree in the relevant subject and B.Ed.

TGT: Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject and B.Ed.

PRT: Bachelor’s Degree and D.Ed or B.Ed (primary school teaching).
