Oh hey I'm a third person who wants to fuck the GP40MC. By far the most fuckable piece of MBTA rolling stock.
where are you people coming from
And before anyone accuses me of being a prude youâre wrong the most fuckable piece of MBTA rolling stock is the type 8. She has the range darling, she will sing and scream in equal measure, sheâs bendier than a circus performer to fit through tight spaces, sheâs a boston icon and she always comes with a kinki friend
So what if sheâs high maintenance it just means she knows what she wants

Oat milk was discovered much more recently than you may have known. Like many now-familiar technologies, it was found by accident during the Apollo program when NASA learned what a zero-g environment does to goat milk.

Creatures from the Kennicott Bible, an illuminated manuscript copy of the Hebrew Bible, copied in A Coruña, Spain in 1476 by the calligrapher Moses ibn Zabarah and illuminated by Joseph ibn Hayyim đźđŠđŒđŒđđ»đđđŠđȘ
It is regarded as one of the most exquisite illuminated manuscripts in Hebrew and one of the most lavishly illuminated Sephardic manuscript of the 15th century. According to the historian Cecil Roth, one of the most outstanding aspects of this copy is the close collaboration it shows between the calligrapher and the illuminator, rare in this type of work.
In 1476, Isaac, a Jewish silversmith from Coruña, son of Salomón de Braga, commissioned an illuminated Bible from the scribe Moses ibn Zabarah who lived in Coruña with his family on behalf of his patron. He spent ten months to scribe the Bible, writing two folios on a daily basis. Illumination of the manuscript was the responsibility of Joseph ibn Hayyim, who is remembered thanks to this work.
The first documentation of the Jewish presence dates to 1375. Jewish population in A Coruña grew rapidly throughout the Late Middle Ages. It is thought that after the persecution of Jews in Castile, a large number of Jewish people took refuge in Galicia. The Jewish community in Coruña traded with Castile and Aragon, and in 1451 they contributed to the rescue of the Murcian Jews with a large sum of money, which could demonstrate the prosperity of the community.
See the whole thing on the Internet Archive! (With plenty of info and a link to the record at the Bodleian Library, where the Kennicott Bible lives now. You can also download a PDF)

y'know, I don't actually think "pick your battles" means "don't argue so much." I think it means that you should set the terms of engagement so that you'll win. The first one discourages people from addressing wrongs. The second one encourages you to defeat them.
Hm. I thought it meant "you have a finite resource of time and energy -- don't fight battles that you don't actually care about, learn to let some irritations pass by so you can save your energy for the things that matter to you."
Which is a little "pick fewer" (although it doesn't have to be!) and a little "set terms of engagement" but mostly "be thoughtful about when you battle." (or maybe that's what you mean by "set terms of engagement?")
Occasionally forget people genuinely think capitalism is thousands of years old
One time I was talking about Robin Hood with some coworkers and one guy was like âhe was bad because the people he helped learned to expect handoutsâ and I wanted to be like⊠okay can you explain how that flawed capitalist propaganda applies to feudalism
reminder that capitalism was literally invented in the 16th century
Thatâs an exaggeration. What was invented in the 16th century was mercantilism. Capitalism really dates for the beginning of the nineteenth century, with the rise of industry and cash crops over artisans and merchants. Vulture capitalism, with the notion that companies have no duties other than generating profit, is even younger.
Capitalism is only 200 years old and I have to say, they have not been an impressive 200 years
I think a lot of this comes from the fact that most people donât know the formal definition of capitalism. We all know the word, weâve all seen the jokes, but very few people bother to actually define it unless theyâre talking about political theory and philosophy, so itâs easy to end up with the impression that Capitalism = Money Can Be Exchanged For Goods And Services.
Capitalism is the economic system where most of the means of production (i.e. everything people need to have to make the stuff that everyone wants) are owned by private individuals or corporations, who then hire people to provide the labor necessary to produce things, with the intent of selling the output at a profit. Itâs the difference between âyouâre a carpenter and you make a chair and you sell itâ and âyouâre Richard Q. Richington who owns a chair factory, and you pay people to sell the chairs you paid other people to make and then all the excess money goes back to you.â There have been Richard Q. Richingtons on and off throughout history, but that being the norm for every single industry is a pretty recent development.
