The 7.8 earthquake that struck near Sarangani, Mindanao is a currently developing story with the quake striking at 7:32 AM PhST yesterday killing at least 40 as of the latest count (the death toll still rising as more people are found and with aftershocks in the next few weeks), displacing at least 20,000 people, and destroying a lot of infrastructure from homes to public spaces to private businesses and even schools. It's a little difficult for me to find information if there's any NGO or community-run/citizen-run relief drives at the moment and especially since I don't use X/Twitter or Instagram but I do want to share some here. If anyone has any information or links that would directly help the people affected by the recent earthquake, feel free to share them here as I'm also trying to look around other places like Facebook even with how terrible its search function is.
From what I've found so far, I'm reposting some images from GCash's Facebook page regarding various large groups and companies that had given different QR codes that people could donate to with Angat Buhay being a well-known NGO that did quick response during last year's typhoon barrage and PDRF being a group that's specifically geared towards disaster response:
Here's also some posts from student organizations that I'm copying over from Facebook. This one is a post from Notre Dame of Marbel University Peacebuilder's page calling for donations:
From the post:
𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗦 ❤️🩹 Mindanao was struck by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake on June 8, 2026, causing significant damage, particularly in Sarangani Province. Numerous infrastructures were destroyed or severely damaged, and many families are now in urgent need of assistance as they recover from the devastating effects of the disaster. In response, the 𝙉𝘿𝙈𝙐 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (PBO), 𝙉𝘿𝙈𝙐 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 (PHISMETS), and 𝙉𝘿𝙈𝙐 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙞𝙢 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (MSO) are launching a collaborative donation drive for the affected communities in Sarangani Province. To ensure transparency and accountability, a liquidation report will be released, showing that all funds collected through this donation drive have been fully endorsed to Rotaract Koronadal for the relief effort. Together, let us bring hope, compassion, and support to our fellow MindanaOnes during this difficult time. 🤝
Another post from the Supreme Student Council of Mindanao Statue University - GenSan's page calling for donations:
From the post:

I apologize for not being able to make image descriptions for all of these right now since I'm currently dealing with some bad eyestrain these past few days. If anyone wants to write them, I'll try to add them in on the alt text of the corresponding images.
As always, if you're part of an institution like a school or a company, they might also have or will have programs that would focus specifically on assisting the victims of the earthquake so keep an eye out for those programs and you could go through those channels to help if you find it reputable and feel free to add them in the reblogs of this post as well to make things easier for those that would want to help.
Stay safe, everyone!
Edit for Additional Information: @actualbird had added in the reblogs that people from overseas can help out through Angat Buhay as they accept international bank payments as well! Here's a link to their website where you can find more information to help as well as channels to donate from overseas and below are attached pictures that @/actualbird had added in his reblog:
Thank you for all the people who had been so kind enough to donate as well as those who had shared this post for reach! Any little bit of help goes a long way.
prose and languages are pretty huge determinants of my reading enjoyment. and this line just made me stop and stare. i mean, isn't language just a beauty to behold? Lahat nga lakas na maaaring utangin sa poot??? that fucking hits hard.
worst thing is I initiated the chat/ planned the hangout
productive and fun ng rest day na to. played pickleball for the first time with the book club girlies, nakapag shop na ng sofa bed for the renter office space, and nakapagpaupdate ng glasses.
mejj malungkot pa rin na may pasok ako ng Sundays, pero i guess better pa rin naman na RD ang Fri-Sat na RD kaysa Sun-Mon.

luh pano ba yan nag enjoy ako mag pickleball~
it's true, there's nothing like finishing your first thousand-page book. after that, it's less and less intimidating. you get this confidence that as long as you have time on your side, you can do it. they're just words on a page. all you really have to do is keep going.
and especially in this day and age when we scroll for an hour and hardly remember anything by the time we sleep? reading a story, sticking with a book for a prolonged period of time, is so valuable. for example after weeks, or even months after i finish a book i will sometimes find myself still thinking about it. and that just doesn't happen with me reading through news cycle. it's such a special thing.
to be fair, not all tomes are life-changing, but around one in ten tomes have been for me. that number becomes less when it comes to shorter books, and that's something.
kakanood ko kay jax naaadopt ko na yung di sya budgeted, eh / wala akong budget for it~

gamit na gamit yung AI sa werk ko nakaka-konsensya talaga thinking about the energy and resource that every 'prompt' takes away from all of us today and the future generations. kaya ayoko na talagang magkaron pa sya ng use case sa personal life ko. if the industry blows up and shuts down overnight i would be so happy.
pulling out the big guns. sana magustuhan ko to huhu. may tony perez din ako kaso TIL na horror author pala shea. di pa naman ako nagbabasa ng horror~
