I WAS KINDA TEMPTED

"The fuck are you looking at?"

"Can you not look at me like that?"

"Did you just grab my ass? Seriously?"

"That was the worst pickup line I've ever heard."

"Go back to the sewer you crawled out of, creep."

"Stop checking me out. It's gross."

"This is my good suit/dress/blouse! Do you have to be so clumsy?"

"This is the worst blind date I've ever been on."

"Well, mark this as my first and last blind date."

"We could be having sex right now if you stop running your mouth."

"Did you really think you could pick up someone in an outfit like that?"

"Leave me alone."

"That's it. I'm calling the cops."

"Fuck you too! Asshole."

"You just tried to hit me with your car/bike!"

"Do you ever get your customers' orders right or are you just trying to ruin my meal?"

"This is a very important meeting, and you are blowing it."

"Are you really going to just stare at me after I used my best pickup line on you?"

"You could shut up and buy me a drink."

"Why are you such a snob?"

"Oh, so you have daddy issues?"

"Just stop talking."

"You are making a fool of yourself."

It was a sight she’d never forget any time soon. Blood gushing from  the front of Negan’s throat, the blood glittering on Rick’s blade, and her husband falling upon his knees then to the ground…

“No! Rick!”

Emotions were quick to leave her, a loud wail escaped her like a wild banshee coming to collect from all those that had wronged her. Tears fell in waves down her cheeks almost immediately as she took a step forward, ready to hurt anyone to get to the man that, through all his dumb bullshit, she had fallen so deeply for. But it was the strong hand of someone else gripping upon her arms and jerking her back from getting in the way that Lisa paused in her movements.

“Let me go, god damn it,” she screamed as she jerked like a caught fish in Arat’s grip. Her teary, red eyes focused in on Rick, unable to hear him as all she could feel was her heart breaking and a red rage falling over her, “Let me go! I have to get to him! Rick, don’t kill him!”

It was the sound of “save him” and the widow’s cries that Lisa finally turned into her current captor’s hold and buried her head into her shoulder, allowing her sobs to fall from her before she wrapped her own arms around Arat’s shorter stature.  “Don’t let them hurt him, Arat.” 

Things seemed to unravel quickly after the compromised ammunition was unleashed. Arat knew there wouldn’t be much to come back from after that, but there wasn’t very far to go, either. With a mildly wounded hand and a pocket knife she did what she could to fend off people and evade bullets from behind cars. It was her job to keep Negan safe, but he made off pretty quickly without any chance for her to keep track of him. She figured that was probably intentional. 

Coward. She knew it, even as she still deeply respected and admired him. He had become something of a mentor, maybe even father figure in the time she’d been at the Sanctuary. Always believing in her, always paying her accolades.

Maybe those feelings would never change. 

It all came down to this moment, with their hands in the air, watching with bated breath as Rick caught Negan off guard and slit his throat. Arat felt the breath go out of her. Negan so often seemed untouchable, immortal even, that it was hard to process that something like this was happening. 

Her instincts still kicked in when she heard Lisa’s scream. Knowing that nothing would hold the other woman back, knowing Rick’s people had them at gunpoint with their hands up, Arat did what she had to to make sure Lisa didn’t become victim too.  

“Lisa, no-!”

Arat took hold of her arms in the same way she’d been trained to restrain a captive. She didn’t have the heart to explain to Lisa that it was as good as done unless Rick made a split decision very quickly. Negan was losing a lot of blood very fast and that would be enough. Even if they had the means to stifle the blood flow, who was qualified to take it from there? 

“There’s nothing we can do,” Arat said softly, still holding her back in a vice grip. “There’s nothing, Lisa, there’s nothing...! They’ll kill you too if you go over there...” 

Maybe Lisa didn’t care, but Arat wouldn’t allow it so long as it was in her power to do something. 

But then, the unthinkable- Rick commanded someone in their group with medical know-how to save him. Lisa relaxed more in her grip and sort of collapsed into sobs. Arat wasn’t the best at emotional comfort usually, but under the circumstances she didn’t hesitate to wrap her arms around her in kind, all the while watching Negan be tended to with trepidation. 

“Shh, they won’t,” she promised. “Not any more than they have.” Arat caressed Lisa’s hair. “We should head back home...figure things out from here.”

I know not every Negan mun wants children OCs but honestly throw ALL of them at me. I HC w/ my Negan that he’s always, always wanted to be a father in a very big way but (in default verse, to his knowledge) it’s just never happened. Generally I’ll say that it had to with fertility issues throughout his life, but it may differ depending on the verse. Though it may seem strange given who he is, he does have a very big urge to be paternal (in HIS way) and was guided to coaching/teaching high school for this reason. He latched on to Carl real fast for the same reason. 

Negan as a father, however, will be a mixed bag. Though he wants to be a dad and wants to help guide young people in the way HE thinks is best, whether or not he’ll actually be a good dad is another topic of debate, but I’m going to have to explore this more with OC kids. 

Negan huffed out a laugh and wiped the blood from his chin.
