TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL BENEFITS

Tea tree oil has a long history of medicinal use. The practice of applying tea tree oil comes from Australia, where Aborigines have been using it as an antiseptic to treat cuts and burns for thousands of years. By using a steam process, the oil is distilled from the leaves of a tree called Melaleuca alternifolia, which was given the name “tea tree” by Captain Cook of Britain when he noticed natives using its leaves to make tea.

But it didn’t take very long for aboriginals to discover the many benefits that tea tree leaves have on the skin. Australians were the first people to press crushed tea tree leaves onto the skin to help heal their cuts, burns and infections. Talk about good instincts! Of course, today we have science to reaffirm those initial instincts-to teach us why Tea Tree Oil promotes a faster healing of the skin.

Basically, tea tree leaves comprise ofterpenoids- natural lipids known for their antiseptic and antifungal abilities. The organic compound terpinen-4-ol, the most abundant terpenoid, is believed to be the main reason for Tea Tree Oil’s antimicrobial properties. Though most scientific data points to benzoyl peroxide as a more successful acne treatment, Tea Tree Oil has been shown to produce fewer side effects. In a 1990 study published in the Medical journal of Australia, 79% of people who used benzoyl peroxide experienced adverse reactions (e.g. itching, burning, stinging, and dryness), compared to only 44% of those using Tea tree essential oil. Its unique chemical composition is responsible for an impressively long list of skin conditions that Tea Tree Oil’s treats:

As an antiseptic that fights germs, it’s used on cuts and burns.

As an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent, it helps heal athletes foot, eczema, yeast infections, and many other types of bacterial and fungal skin infections.

EUCALYPTUS OIL USES

Almost everyone is aware of the eucalyptus oil uses and its benefits; the oil has been used for centuries to treat a number of health conditions

For those of you who are not aware, this oil is extracted from the predominant eucalyptus trees. It works well as a natural pharmaceutical product, an antiseptic, pest repellent, and an aromatic antibacterial disinfectant.

This oil is extracted from the Eucalyptus forest trees. However, not all trees are suitable for yielding oil. There are only certain species from the leaves of which the oil is steam distilled. The medicinal attributes of different species vary. The oil extracted from the Eucalyptus globules tree is considered the best oil. Today, around 5% of the oil comes from Australia, while the remaining 95% is contributed by China.

The distinct woody aroma and taste of eucalyptus oil is generated by the chief active ingredient- cineole, which is also known as eucalyptol. Pure oil has 100% cineole, while the pharmaceutical products have 70% oil content. Some of the medicinal products also contain 40% this oil.

The oil is largely used for first aid purposes because of its remedial and healing properties. It is used for the treatment of blisters, minor wounds, cuts, and bruises. Application of the oil also helps in easing skin irritation and insect bites. This oil has been renowned to relieve muscle pain due to its anti inflammatory properties. The anti inflammatory properties make it an excellent treatment for stiff muscles, aches and other pain related issues. One of the main reasons eucalyptus oil is preferred is due to its cooling properties.

Massaging a few drops on the temples and forehead helps in relieving sinus pressure and headache. Muscle pain can also be treated effectively by adding it to massage oil. This oil can be used as a mouthwash to kill staphylococcus bacteria, which is a form of bacteria that causes bad breath and other mouth problems.

For Medicinal uses need a few drops of eucalyptus, when added to vaporizer, can make breathing easier by acting as a room humidifier. It cools and freshens up the skin when a few drops mixed with water are applied on the forehead and neck. The oil is effective in treating respiratory tract ailments, sinusitis, rheumatism, and tuberculosis. It provides relief from ailments such as asthma and arthritis. The oil also works well as a stimulant to increase cardiac activity.

Pure essential oil is used as a natural pest deterrent to keep annoying bugs at bay. It has germicidal properties and it is used by travellers to prevent diseases like malaria. Rubbing of the oil on the skin of the pet eases pain. This oil is effective in the treatment of septicaemia and parasite infestations.

Eucalyptus oil works as a natural disinfectant for toilets and as pest repellent to prevent bugs from entering their homes. Its use is quite common as a dish detergent and a wash-flooring product for cleaning counter surfaces. The combination of this oil and water is used to remove sticker residue from glass surfaces. Paint, ink, and grease stains on clothes can be removed easily with this oil, and many people use it as non-toxic room freshener and a car freshener.

Green Tea Benefit for skin

In traditional Chinese medicine green tea and its extracts are commonly used to prevent and treat a number of skin diseases, including skin cancer.  The high content of different anti-oxidants, called polyphenols, seems to be responsible for this by removing free radicals from the skin before they have a chance to attack the DNA in you skins cells, which otherwise can lead to cancer. Topical applications of green tea extracts also help protect against UV exposure from the sun, and are used to reduce the impact the sun has on the health of your skin.

It contains a high concentration of polyphenols, chemicals with potent antioxidant properties. In modern Chinese medicine and culture, green tea and its extracts are extensively used in the prevention and treatment of various skin diseases, including skin cancer. The rich polyphenol content in it scavenges free radicals, cell damaging compounds in the body that alter DNA molecules in the chromosomes, inducing harmful mutations that lead to the initiation of skin cancer.

Topical applications of green tea extracts (EGCG) have protective effects on UVA- and UVB-induced skin damage (photoaging and carcinogenesis).

A study done in 2003 at the Georgia Medical College seemed to back this up, by concluding that green tea helps rejuvenate skin cells and protect against ultraviolet damage to the cells.
