I was sitting in deep thought when my co-worker asked "A penny for your thoughts?" so I proceeded to tell him he chewed too loud when he ate.
He then quipped "Who ask you to put your two cents in?!!"

Manslaughter I could agree with, criminally negligent homicide, I could agree with but first degree murder??? That is a ridiculous verdict. He did NOT go there with the intent to kill anyone.
And of course I hear everyone crying about “oh my God. He should not have had a knife”. This is Texas. He didn't have a Rambo knife. It was a flip knife, wasn't it? I promise you at least 50% of the other young men there had one of those knives or a similar one with them. We all had those flip knives growing up. It's Texas. Now, that doesn't give him the right to use it. But again, please stop feigning complete shock that he had a knife.
Now if he would have had a gun or an AR or an AK then I would be shocked but a flip knife that's not totally shocking to me. I wish he would have just resorted to fisticuffs and they duked it out.
But I will say that his defense attorney failed him greatly. An all white jury is not a jury of his peers and again before you come at me talking about racism or whatever you don't understand and you will never understand if you're not black what it means to have a fear. A genuine fear for your life when you are approached by aggressive white people. I never know what their intent is.. me personally if they came at me, I would have swung on them. It's a shame that most kids don't fight instead of pull out guns and knives, but that's neither here nor there and the terribly sad thing about it is at the end of the day, two families are ruined. One young man has lost his life literally and the other young man has lost his life through incarceration. Where were the coaches? There's a lot more accountability that needs to be there again. I'm not saying that he should have been innocent because again he took someone's life so there must be consequences. But first degree murder that indicates that he went there with the intent to kill and that is not what happened. This is is two 17-year-old boys with hair on their nuts and neither one of them wanting to back down. They should have just duked it out and called it a day. But here we are …while Rick Chow runs free. THAT was first degree murder because he actually chased someone down and shot them in the back. He had the intent to kill. SEE THE DIFFERENCE
