rewatched Tuff Turf the other day, and this is like the 4th or 5th movie from the 80s i have viewed recently where i've seen a woman running a black eye pencil over her eyelashes. really strange. why did none of the actresses or make-up dept speak up to tell the director "you don't apply mascara with a pencil"? i feel this should have been self evident since all the women doing it have full mascara on by the time the pencil comes out.

i sometimes run my felt tip eyeliner over the base of my lashes to catch the area the spoolie missed, but that's 1.) very different from the dry ass pencil liner of 40 years ago 2.) these ladies are running the pencil liner across the tips of their lashes. someone has certainly pointed this out to me before, but recently it's all i see.

#this is like when a girl investigates a strange noise topless in a horror movie #because the director wants to sexualize her as much as possible #but he hasn't ever talked to a woman so he can't sexualize her in a coherent way #pantless? sure. braless? almost certainly #but TOPLESS?? not on your life #how can you be so obsessed with women and yet know so little #that was a rhetorical question
