I start a new volunteer role that's wildlife rehab-adjacent tomorrow and I'm so excited but anxious. I hope I see some cool animals but I want all the cool animals to survive and not be injured

#from what I've heard I'll probably get to see an animal that's new to me eventually. I really want to see a pine marten #I can also start getting my rabies vaccines on Wednesday yay but I need to talk to my doctor about it first #I'm hoping all my illnesses and medications aren't a problem for that. what if I missed an opportunity to touch a bat

My hairdresser does such a good job I feel like I have to walk around for hours after my haircut so everyone can see me

Another really cool artist I should have researched before the festival but I did get to see both their solo show and one workshop they did. Also can we all agree that this is a gorgeous album cover

Probably my favourite find from the festival. I wish I had researched beforehand because I wish I could have seen more of these guys

#thankfully I think this is my favourite song of theirs and they played it at the workshop I saw them at #the one guy said it's about his parents' experience immigrating from Ireland to Australia #Idk why but I love when people write songs about their parents. I guess it's more interesting than what just about everyone else is doing

I think I made it to almost every cool campground setup this year so I'm pretty happy about that

#there was like an old west bar thing with a stage and lots of seating and those swinging doors you could walk through #people could sign up to play music on the stage and there was some great ones #there was a tent where these guys had a binder with the lyrics and chords for probably hundreds of songs #so you could show up with an instrument and play along or sing #apparently these guys are from Minnesota and come up every year for the festival #the people who have a van that looks like the Mystery Machine are always there but this year they had a projector which is so cool #they showed movies on it and at least on the first night they did some gaming like they had a Super Smash Bros tournament #I got to the fortune cookie people and some of the big games #I didn't make it to the game tent but those people had a huge rental tent with a bunch of little tables and board/card games #I also missed the tarot person #oh I was also close to the main trading post this year but I didn't participate I just checked it out from time to time #unbelievable stuff there... covid tests. VHS tapes. vaseline.#I know there were kids taking stuff like bracelets and leaving rocks and twigs LOL

I got some bug stickers while I was wandering around Sunday night and I'm so in love with them that I'm thinking about becoming a clear phone case person so I can fill it with stickers

#I got a yellowjacket and a green beetle that I haven't identified #they were almost all local insects which is so cute

Maybe I'll just die on Sunday

#wtf is this I'm not doing 'feels like 40 C'#I finish my shift at 1 pm so all the shade will be taken already #that afternoon I'm going straight to the beach I think no music for me

I don't know what I'm supposed to do at the folk festival this year because the only two artists I'm thrilled to see are back to back on the last night. Like I guess I'll just wander around and if it's too hot I'm going to try walking to the beach

#I don't even have volunteer shifts on Thursday or Friday #I'm so lucky they put Kathleen Edwards and OMAM back to back though I'm going to get to the very front and stay there #I'm also pretty excited about Adam Baldwin but I hadn't heard of him before the lineup was released #so that's different than getting to see my childhood favs that I've loved for like 15 years

Also sorry I've been completely absent from tumblr but this will most likely continue for the summer <3 I got a very cool opportunity to volunteer on some conservation work and I'm trying to spend as much time on that as possible

#I'm hoping to get a paying job doing the exact same thing with the same people next summer #and if not the skills will for sure help me somewhere else #they happen to really align with one internship abroad that I've been eyeing up for months #and career stuff aside this work is so cool and fulfilling I'm very happy every time I'm there :-)#it means so much to be trusted with work that's this important like I'm so grateful

The days I'm volunteering feel so long that by the evening it seems like a new day and I feel guilty about "not spending time outside" because the morning is so far away

#today I was outside from 8 to almost 1 #and then I was at an event networking for a thing I'm planning with my neighborhood's residents association from 4 to 6:30 #I am SO TIRED I really don't need anymore outside time #yeah 7.5 hours outside is crazy that's why I feel like garbage. most of that was standing or walking and so much socializing #I need to be lying down

I really can’t wait for my tick check shower that I will be having in two minutes

#someone found a black legged tick today 😕#but it wasn’t attached to anyone #so it’s overall a positive thing because now I’m more familiar with them and can post one on iNat >:)

I saw an Io moth today so basically I’m unstoppable
