a few months ago i had the chance to interview seb and emerson from palaye royale and their presence genuinely moved me in a way i didn’t expect.

i loved their music when i was a teenager, but if i’m honest i hadn’t followed it much beyond those years. sitting with them felt like opening a door to a version of myself i’d forgotten about.

they were some of the kindest, most respectful and sincere people i’ve ever interviewed. the conversation wandered in the best way, they’re both incredibly intelligent, creative, and thoughtful. the kind of people who clearly spend a lot of time thinking deeply about the world around them.

we talked about losing our mothers. about architecture. about the feather emerson carried in his briefcase (which i still wonder if australian customs let through).

there was something very human about the whole exchange.

at the end they hugged me multiple times and told me i was sweet, even though i was very obviously a little starstruck.

and to all the palaye royale fans out there —

i get it now.
