Giant Sequoias are a type of redwood that grows in the high altitude Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Although many can grow to be as massive as the one shown in the photo, in this particular case, it appears as if two trees fused together.

Coast redwoods are the tallest trees in the world. They typically grow closer to the ocean at much lower altitudes. Although their diameter isn’t quite as wide as Sequoias, they have the potential to reach heights of nearly 400 feet.

Spain is running dry and trying to get off fossil fuels. Solving either problem is notoriously expensive and land-intensive. Solving both simultaneously requires an entirely different approach to engineering. They just opened a floating solar farm on the ocean.

The top half absorbs the sun to generate clean electricity for the grid. The bottom half uses a fraction of that exact power to pull in seawater and run it through a desalination process, instantly producing fresh drinking water.

Despite President Donald Trump’s regular warnings about electoral fraud and the vulnerabilities of mail voting, his Department of Justice has not set up its usual “command center” to address Election Day emergencies, according to a report.

While there are still five months to go until November’s midterms, NOTUS points out that it is unusual for the DOJ not to have taken steps to establish a center at FBI headquarters for local officials and the public to report irregularities and possible crime.
