The morning block that doubles your billable output
Do not check email before starting client work. That instruction sounds small. The impact is not small. The first three hours of the day are your highest cognitive capacity. Email converts them to reactive mode before you have done any work. Try this for one week: client work first, completely focused, before any messages. Batch all communication into one midday window. The messages are still there at noon. Nothing burned down. And you did three hours of real work before anyone had a chance to interrupt it.
