Lately, Alexis felt like she constantly had a million thoughts racing through her head at once. Though really, Alexis’s mind was always non-stop, so maybe more accurately, it was the addition of her heart battling with her head that made it seem like more, which is the way it had been since the day a part of her heart had suddenly moved to London. It was because of her, she knew, and at first, she thought the distance might have made things easier, but her thoughts now seemingly drifted to the other woman even more, which prompted an easy decision to throw herself further into her work since every other option was now an ocean away. There was hardly a noticeable difference, Alexis was already always constantly working and writing like she was running out of time, so her early mornings and late nights were already expected, as were the many times in between that she’d suddenly be finding her way to her desk to pen her thoughts into words whenever inspiration would randomly strike, which was more often than not.
So really, this was the only time Alexis was guaranteed to not be working and to be present, not distracted deep within her own thoughts. Her boyfriend knew that, he knew her, as she woke to his hands softly running through her hair. She never tired to waking up to his smile, to his hushed voice gently waking her and the soft adoration she saw in his eyes every time she’d meet his gaze. She let out a sleepy hum at his words, a small smile making its way to her face as her eyes briefly landed on the tray beside her. “What‘s the occasion?” As much as Elias knew her, Alexis knew him just as well if not more, she’d like to think. He constantly spoiled her, and this was undoubtedly another attempt to keep her in bed longer, to spend more time together before the girl devoted the rest of her day to work.
Elias couldn’t help but smile lightly, because Alexis’s always seemed to be one step ahead of him, but maybe just this time he could surprise her. If there was any sort of suspicion from his girl, he was sure that she wouldn’t be able to hold it down already. “I wanted to do something nice for you” It wasn’t a lie, because he always wanted her to be happy and have a smile on her face; he was just incredibly lucky when he was the cause of it. The boy let her have some space so she could get comfortable on the bed, feeling his cheeks blushing lightly under her gaze. “Well, that and... “ He passed a hand around his hair, feeling the ring weight so much more in his pocket. “There is something I want to talk to you. Well, ask you. But just... Have your breakfast first, okay?”
