ㅤㅤㅤSomething  that  is  so  incredibly  important  to  Dexter,  mainly  in  his  Detective  Comics  verse,  is  his  work  at  the  different  clinics  he  runs  as  a  member  of  the  Justice  League.  Even  from  a  young  age  he  has  always  been  a  massive  advocate  for,  not  only  affordable  healthcare,  but  free  and  accessible  care  for  anyone  and  everyone  who  could  possibly  need  it.  He  doesn't  believe  in  discriminating  as  a  healthy  body,  a  healthy  mind,  should  be  basic  care  for  everybody  in  the  entire  universe  and  he  will  defend  this  with  his  life.  Initially  it  just  started  as  Doyoung  volunteering  at  different  free  clinics  around  Gotham,  helping  to  heal  those  who  could  not  afford  their  own  health  care,  especially  the  more  expensive  surgical  treatments  for  things  like  broken  bones.  It  then  blossomed  into  him  sponosing  those  same  clinics,  then  opening  his  own,  so  on  and  so  forth.  At  this  point  in  his  career  there's  probably  about  fifty  or  so  dotted  up  and  down  New  England  that  he  oversees  himself,  makes  sure  that  they  get  the  funding  they  need.  Doyoung  also  stops  into  them  as  often  as  he's  humanly  able  to  do  so,  making  an  appearance  and  proving  that  he  isn't  just  another  face.  That  he's  not  just  another  hero  who  says  they  will  do  something  but  never  follow  up. 

ㅤㅤㅤDexter  knows  that,  without  his  eyesight,  he  will  never  be  able  to  achieve  his  dreams  of  becoming  a  doctor  truly   ⸻   so  to  him  this  is  the  next  best  thing.  He's  able  to  use  this  ancient  magic  he's  mastered  to  help  heal  the  sick,  help  those  who  would  not  be  able  to  afford  proper  care  and,  should  he  be  unequipped  to  handle  them,  he  sends  them  off  with  a  referral  and  a  promise    (  that  he  never  breaks  )     that  the  League,  or  himself  personally,  will  cover  whatever  bill  there  is,  to  just  send  it  to  the  clinic  headquarters  in  Gotham  City.  All  he  has  ever  wanted  his  entire  life  has  been  to  help  those,  to  use  his  gift  of  alchemy  to  take  away  others  pains,  and  now  he  finally  has  not  only  the  funds  but  the  skills  and  the  time  to  do  so,  and  now  he  can  achieve  is  dreams  in  other  ways.  It  might  not  be  the  original  intention,  but  he's  proud  nonetheless. 

ㅤㅤㅤ𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄  𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄  𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒  𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄  𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐖𝐀𝐒  𝐓𝐎𝐎  𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐃  𝐀𝐍𝐃  𝐓𝐎𝐎  𝐌𝐔𝐂𝐇,  𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐓  𝐇𝐀𝐃  𝐀𝐍  𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐎  𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓  𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆  𝐎𝐔𝐓  𝐈𝐍  𝐃𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐄𝐑’𝐒  𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒  𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄  𝐀  𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑  𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐒𝐄  𝐎𝐅  𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐂  𝐍𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐄.        It  would  grind  on  his  eardrums  and  make  Doyoung  feel  a  little  insane  on  the  worst  of  days.  Usually  it  could  be  warded  fairly  easily,  pushed  aside  for  his  work,  for  his  clinical  hours  and  time  spent  with  the  League.  Quite  frankly  he  was  bound  to  reach  his  limits  eventually.  His  friends  had  been  warning  him  that  he  was  stretched  a  little  too  thin,  that  something  was  going  to  eventually  need  to  give.  It  was  after  a  particularly  nasty  night  of  patrol  that  Doyoung  was  finally  beginning  to  crack  a  little  bit  around  the  edges,  his  typically  stoic  vigilante  expression  faltering  and  twitching  a  bit.  Blood  dripped  down  his  forehead  and  coated  the  blonde  locks  framing  his  face,  strands  sticking  to  bruised  and  battered  cheeks.  The  fight  was  over.  Doyoung  could  vaguely  hear  Red  Hood  saying  that  Batman  and  Robin  were  on  their  way  to  clean  up  the  mess,  but  it  was  unimportant  over  the  insistent  ringing  in  his  ear.  It  wasn’t  unlike  the  twenty  ninth  bell  of  the  king  back  in  South  Korea.  A  deep  rumbling  sound  that  echoed  in  his  skull,  nearly  drowning  out  everything  else.  However  through  all  of  the  fog  he  could  feel  a  strong  hand  gripping  his  elbow  even  through  the  kevlar  of  his  hanbok.

ㅤㅤㅤDexter  isn’t  even  able  to  get  a  word  out  before  he  feels  himself  being  whisked  away  and  around  a  corner,  letting  himself  be  led  by  Jason  down  an  alley  until  silence  finally  surrounds  them.  It  feels  safe  here,  quiet  in  a  way  that  can  only  be  done  when  absolutely  no  one  is  staring  down  at  them.  It  was  there  that  he  finally  felt  safe  to  let  it  all  out.  The  tremble  started  slow,  his  fingers  rapidly  curling  and  uncurling  before  it  inched  up  his  hands  as  well.  Eventually  it  felt  as  if  Dexter’s  entire  body  was  shaking  and,  if  it  wasn’t  for  the  strong  arms  of  his  partner  slowly  wrapping  around  him,  he’d  fall  apart  like  a  crudely  built  Lego  set.  His  cheek  almost  eagerly  pressed  hard  into  the  armor  that  covered  the  chest  of  his  lover,  the  cold  metal  helping  to  shock  his  senses  a  little  bit  back  to  normal   ⸻   but  it  would  not  stop  the  incoming  sensational  overload.  Dexter’s  own  arms  were  wrapped  tight  around  his  stomach,  fingers  absently  pressing  in  an  open  gash  along  his  side.  He  couldn’t  even  bring  himself  to  close  the  wound  as  his  mind  was  a  little  too  far  gone.  Tears  brimmed  along  his  lash  line  but  quickly  they  were  kissed  away,  Jason’s  kind  words  breaking  through  the  chiming  bell  that  still  made  itself  at  home  inside  of  his  skull.  He  couldn’t  tell  how  long  they  stayed  like  that,  pressed  together  with  no  space  between  them,  but  soon  enough  the  shaking  stopped.  The  crashing  in  his  mind  quelled  once  and  for  all. 

ㅤㅤㅤThe  kisses  along  the  bags  underneath  Dexter’s  eyes  didn’t  seem  to  stop.  In  fact  they  were  paired  with  a  touch  just  as  gentle,  just  as  kind,  and  it  had  him  smiling  through  the  agony  that  was  still  existing  inside  of  his  mind  and  body.    ❝  You  always  seem  to  know  exactly  what  I  need  before  I  do.  ❞     Even  through  the  pain  he  is  smiling  a  little  bit,  body  weight  shifting  until  he’s  leaning  a  little  more  comfortably  against  Jason’s  chest.  Slowly  but  surely  he  tilts  his  head  up  a  little  until  the  greys  of  his  eyes  manage  to  find  the  face  of  their  lover,  tracing  where  he  had  memorized  their  features  to  be.  A  hand  raises  to  cup  along  Jason’s  jawline  tenderly,  thumb  just  barely  brushing  against  the  edges  of  their  domino  mask.  He  finds  himself  unable  to  resist  the  urge  to  slide  a  finger  underneath  the  fabric  before  it’s  able  to  fall  away  into  the  palm  of  his  hand.  It’s  then  that  he  pushes  up  onto  his  toes  and  presses  his  own  kiss  against  the  gentle  underside  of  their  eye  just  like  Jason  had  done  to  his  own.    ❝  How  did  you  know  I  was  going  to  into  overstimulation?  I  didn’t  clock  it  at  all.  ❞
