Specifically complaining about other people's avatars.

I'm using the Kemono body and M4 anime head. Despite having my shape slider set to tall and going out of my way to make my avatar look like an adult, I still get rude IMs demanding I change (these aren't even from sim owners, just random users) because I "look underage" or "I look like an 8 year old."

I even had someone the other day who complained about the length of my torso (???) and kept sending me shapes (that made my hips stupidly wide and gave me weird proportions) demanding that I use those and asking me if I tried them when I didn't message them back.

To be honest I don't like the M4 anime head as a fit for my avatar, and I'm waiting for the M4 Venus but that might not be out for a while.

But it's not my head. It's always the kemono body people complain about, seriously, when I ask them if it's my big eyes they say no. And considering Ive seen curvy female avatars running around with the M4 chibi head... and also the countless shitty hypersexualized "femboy" avatars that are MADE to look young... people only think I look "underage" because Ive chosen to look androgynous. As if adults dont have realistic hip proportions and can be skinny. No, the only reason my avatar "looks like an 8 year old" is because I'm not wearing hips that are as wide as I am tall and dressed in stereotypical "gay" clothes. Or else they would equally give shit to M4 chibi users or "femboy" avatars who are meant to look young.

But that's besides the point. SL is a weird and very mixed place with little to no content rules. You will see avatars you find ugly and repulsive. You might come across someone who is still somehow using a 2000 prim furry avatar from 2004 and has a massive complexity, or you might come across someones weird hyper belly scat shemale taur fursona.

But that doesn't give you the right to IM them demanding they change. I see a lot of unsavory stuff everywhere but not once have I IMed anyone to change. Mostly because it won't work. People will keep doing what they want to do even if others complain.

The body is way too curvy for me, but no other body is as supported or better for my needs. (maitreya/belleza are worse in the butt region)

I can't do mesh BUT I have a friend who does, and she's offered to make this for me! However it probably won't be worthwhile if no one else but us 2 is using it... so that's why I made this post.

Would any kemono users be likely to use a mod like that?

Also, this friend says that she would really like to make an andrognous body, but doesn't yet have Bento knowledge or the software needed, so it could be a whole before that comes into existence. So the kemono hip reducer would be a temporary solution in a way.

And why I shouldn’t use it? Ive heard the “rigging is bad” but no one has elaborated.

I ask because it’s the only mesh body Ive found that can be androygnous enough my tastes (yes I tried the maitreya demo, I don’t like it at all) and also has a decent amount of clothing.

But I know creators have stopped supporting it (due to lack of demand I think) and some people have complained that it’s not good. So why is that? And if I shouldnt use it then is there anything similar (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON’T SAY MAITREYA) that I should consider instead??

Asking for my boyfriend, who has been trying, but can't. Neither can I and we can't add our PayPal accounts because for some reason, SL won't accept them (it night be because of our country.)

It also requires a payment method to be able to open up a store. It is very annoying, I want to sell things!

I'm not a fan of flat textured detail :< It looks off to me, especially for my low graphics settings.

And are those bodies supported clothing or addon-wise by anyone? I don't think I've ever heard of anyone using psicorp bodies.

Wait, you're telling me Maitreya is no-mod? That's a dealbreaker. I make my own textures and use local textures directly on the body while I work. If every time I want to check my Maitreya textures I have to upload them and put them in the applier... that sounds hellish :<

I want to start doing art for L$, but I need a few examples first, so I will draw a few people’s avatars for free.

The only requirement is that you must be okay with me posting the art AND the screenshot of your character (for comparison) as an example in the future.

Hello, I was wondering what some of the most popular and supported bodies are for androgynous characters.

My character is a feminine male and I have been using Kemono. But I am getting tired of complaints that he looks “Too young” (even when I set height slider high) and also, I don’t like that the Kemono has a big butt you can’t really change. I even tried the Demo of the Fitted Torso but you can’t even reduce butt size much with that.

But so far I haven’t found an alternative. People have told me to use Maitreya but I am not really convinced... For one it’s very expensive, just for the default female body alone. Then the flat chest is an additional cost. And then apparently you have to buy nipples separately too. That’s a lot, perhaps 5k for one body while others like Kemono aren’t even 1k.

Secondly, I make my own body textures. Maitreya uses the default LL UVs and I HATE working with those! I don’t know if it’s just because I am not a very good texture artist, but i find it impossible to fix bad seams once they’re there, and with shading it would be impossible for me to line up the weird mid-torso seam on LL UVs. So I really REALLY want to avoid using them.

I also don’t like the clothes I’ve seen for Maitreya’s V-Tech flat chest so far. No offense to anyone who likes them. But I just see a lot of corsets and... well... things I can only describe as “Gay stripper outfits.”

Avatar 2.0 is apparently “Bad.” I haven’t used it myself but I know it’s not really popular anymore.

So my question is, anyone else with androgynous characters? What body do you recommend best?
