Me spending time with people: joy abounds, we are all connected and there is hope!
Me 1 day later: I need to be left alone to gather the pieces of Me together
Me 2 days later: there is something very rotten at my core and I will almost certainly die unloved
Looking at reviews for a book on bird migration ?
It's the way it was a simple, objective statement. White allyship 101. "White trans ppl can be oppressors too." Yes. Because Whiteness brings systemic power over their peers of color, even if you are in some way marginalized yourself. Queerness does not cancel out racism. We've talked about this. We've talked about white privilege and what it does and doesn't mean. These were conversations everyone swore they were having in 2016. 😐 And now a blow up of fragility on par with the conservatives we're supposedly up against together. What even.
And I'm not trans so it's not like it's my right to stand here and speak for anybody who is. But from the perspective of Blackness and Bisexuality, of KNOWING that no amount of being queer has ever prevented white queer folks from being racist to me, despite the shared reality that is so long as you buy into white supremacy for your own benefit you will never break your own chains of homophobia and enforcement of gender....
MY FRIEND IS FINDING OUT THAT HES COLORBLIND AND WE’RE ALL HELPING HIM THROUGH IT LMAOOOOOO
UPDATE WE HAVE TWO COLORBLIND BITCHEZ IN THE SERVER
what the fuck is going on
On the last one Deuteranomaly and Protanomaly are identical though
What I’m getting from this is that there are a lot more colorblind people in the world than even colorblind people know.
Share to save [shame] a friend
WAIT! DEUTERANOMALY AND PROTANOMALY IS THE SAME! IT’S THE FUCKING SAME! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT?????
The deuteranomaly and protanomaly ones are very similar but they are different. The purple section ranges out a little farther to the right in the protanomaly one. Not seeing the difference between might not indicate color blindness but rather difficulty with color differentiation.
The green is also slightly more vivid in the protanomaly strip than it is in the deuteranomaly one.
@skeletal-spire-man-aka-overfit
um
these are not the same
They’re… They’re identical…
What’s… What’s the difference-?
welp. one of the moots has tritanomaly colour blindness!
I’m not colourblind, but like, on the last one, deuteranomaly and protanomaly are identical to eachother- so are protanopia and deuteranopia-
They aren’t different?
I feel like I should add this

I got a good grade at color definition, something that is both reasonable and attainable to do
I got 0.0062

Here is the list of African presidents who have been assassinated by France since 1963.
Literally thought this was almost exclusively a US thing in recent history. Kind of dumb of me
in case you’re interested in learning more about it, there’s actually a term coined to describe france’s neocolonial agenda in african countries so if you look up “françafrique” you’ll get a clearer picture of the french geopolitical agenda and the tight grip they are keeping in africa. imperialism is still thriving and there are other players outside of the usa that are using the global south as a chessboard and shredding it to pieces through military and economic interventions backed by national industries (although i will say that the english wikipedia page is one massive propaganda ploy undermining french influence on african soil and the motivations behind it)
In French, we also like to say « France-à-fric » meaning "France with cash" to describe Françafrique.
Edit: here's an archived version of the article since the link seems to be broken
I will reiterate over and over again that chronically ill and disabled people have always existed. We have evidence Neanderthals took care of members of their community who became disabled after a serious injury or were born with disabilities like Down Syndrome. Yes, many more illnesses ‘just killed you’ before modern medicine but the lack of modern medicine meant there were even more people struggling with chronic ill health. Institutionalization and the stigma around discussing disabilities and illnesses is the reason you think there were fewer people with disabilities and chronic health concerns, not reality. Bad backs, bad lungs, bad stomachs, mobility issues, poor eyesight, poor hearing, countless other things that range from mild annoyances to serious life-limiting disabilities. We have always existed. Pretending like there was a time in history where a sizable portion of the human population wasn’t chronically ill or disabled is historical revisionism.
“Why are American kids the sickest of any developed nation?” I dunno, maybe because we have a for-profit medical system, social welfare programs are constantly being undermined, environmental protections have been rolled back, companies are allowed to market any kind of bullshit they want, the housing/cost of living crisis means a lot of children are living in cramped, mold infested shitholes ran by landleeches and- vaccines? Oh, you think vaccines are what is causing it?
Me, pointing to the mirror: Do NOT become The Joker about this. This isn’t even a Condiment King situation.

It also deeply bothers me how many people pull the "okay now ask the average African American how they feel about gay and trans people" as a gotcha, to try to act as though Black people specifically hate and are oppressing queer and trans people (and as if we just, AREN'T those things too).
Buddy ask the average White American how they feel about gay and trans people, since we're taking the census and the piss. Hell, look at the people in charge currently pushing anti trans and anti queer legislation and tell me how they identify. Look at the racial demographics of our last election and tell me who you think is out here going rah rah for the gays and theys.
The audacity to suggest that my entire community is homophobic (I.e., you spend zero time around Black queer and trans folk) but somehow yours is worthy of a closer, more nuanced look... Really some OG white supremacy, actually! "Those savages, they don't understand things like gender and sexuality, they're just angry uncultured brutes!" -mentality shared between 1700s race scientists and 2026 You, apparently.
Some folks was really out here lying with those #BLM pins 😭
In case anyone's curious about the actual statistics, here's a survey from 2025 (spoiler: folks are still generally okay with queer people across the board!):
To view a replay of PRRI’s March 19, 2026, webinar on this topic or the slides presented during the webinar, please click here.
Roughly seven in ten white (71%), Black (70%), and Hispanic (70%) Americans agree that transgender people deserve equal rights and protections, while support is slightly higher among AAPI (76%) and multiracial (74%) Americans.
And in a win for absolutely everyone, support for same-sex marriage has gone up since 2015.
I'm sure you didn't intend to be patronizing, but I'M not the one you should be saying this to. Don't beg me, don't beg the victims of racism, to have more faith in my fellow human beings in the face of the behavior we are witnessing and experiencing, when what you should be doing is begging that the "assholes" do better to earn that faith that the numbers suggest. You should be begging that the "normal people" stop being quiet in the face of the "assholes" (racists) doing all the talking.

Did you have a happy childhood, and can you cut onions without crying?
I had a happy childhood and I can cut onions without crying
I had a happy childhood and I can't cut onions without crying
I didn't have a happy childhood and I can cut onions without crying
I didn't have a happy childhood and I can't cut onions without crying
I emerged from a ditch already fully grown/I've never been trusted with a knife
No nuance, if you had to hesitate at all, the answer is "no".

Here's an idea about why kids are so anxious and depressed all the time...the environments kids are in most of the time are very stressful and don't fulfill their needs for play, rest, proper variety of foods, positive social opportunities, and freedom from fear pain punishment etc
Like everyone with any basic understanding of animal welfare knows that if you put an animal in an enclosure that is too crowded, without hiding spots, with no freedom to move around, no ability to avoid harsh and stressful stimuli, and scare it by shouting at it and punishing it, the animal will become stressed and start chewing its own fur off or hurting itself or become sick or unable to eat...
But we expect human children to grow up in these conditions and literally blame them when they develop the exact type of problems that any creature under those conditions would
