Without me the Rangers are just a sham.

Shinya Kiritani is such an interesting character to me.

A man so indecisive that like, his whole character is defined by uncertainty. He is so "contrary" to his own sense of self because he cannot process his own sense of self.

He is a man so unable to reconcile the contradictory feelings within himself that he clones himself into two opposites and ends his own life in front of them, all so that he doesn't have to face the "horror" of choice; of deciding who he wants to be.

He would rather externalize his own inner conflict for another to solve than truly face it himself.

(Notice how, in the chapter where this happens, the tone of the story itself becomes "simpler" — between the two Shinya clones, the conflict becomes a simple good vs evil instead of a fascinating inner conflict)

(Isn't that diabolical? That a man would kill himself to leave behind a simple, marketable narrative instead of a raw, psychological one?)

(It's like…the "indoctrination" effects of "children's media" —the children are literally clones— are showcased in their purest form with the two Shinyas)

And I feel like, the themes that stem from this origin—finding one's own purpose, facing the "horror" of deciding who you want to be, pushing past the waves of endless, vapid content that tries to grind your identity down into nothing (and discovering + trying to not lose sight of what made the now-vapid content actually valuable) — it's the core of what Go Go Loser Ranger is as a story.

Behind all the bullshit, the Rangers, the Monsters, the Dragon Priestesses, the Content—it all stems from the inner conflict found within a single writer.
