i actually AM a geologist in making (finishing second year of university), haha. should have added this to context!

this photo was made in a deflation niche on a beach. the wind blows out the sand and leaves the gravel, which forms patches with greater concentration of small rocks in the ground. the trails behind the rocks are, i think, aerodynamic shadows - the sand there is shielded from the wind, which in the region (northern Poland) blows typically west to east

the were also some impressive sand dunes in the vicinity, though i didn't take a tumblr safe picture (i don't particularly want to post my entire face on the internet, ahaha). the trip there is part of my field classes. i'm not exactly the outdoorsy type, more of a lab rat, but i'm enjoying it very much!
