Inflexible & Inevitable

“Andromeda. Nice to meet you.”

“Trust me, the pleasure is all mine.”

“So you’re asking me to pretend your a VIP? That’ll cost you.”

“Is that so? How much are we thinking?”

Siren rolled their eyes and picked up the newly cleaned brass knuckles on the table. “It doesn’t bother me; In fact, I like a good audience from time to time.” They looked up at the man across from them and assessed him from head to toe. “Although, I have to warn you, interrogation can get…messy. Not everyone here is used to that.”

Atropos watched them pick up the brass knuckles with curiosity, it was a weapon he hadn’t used much. “Perfect, I’m always up for a good show.” He gave Siren a friendly smirk. “I like messy and I’m not everyone, go ahead.” 

“Are you OK? You’re not hurt?”

“I’m fine, mostly! Just a bit tired, I didn’t want to be around all of them.” He gestured to their coworkers bustling around outside.

“I don’t know about that, but I guess I am pretty awesome.”

“You definitely are. I’m Atropos, in case you were wondering.”

❝ Go watch Star Wars or something. I don’t know. I’ve been modifying computers all day. ❞

“We both know you’re the only reason I’ve ever watched that movie. What? You didn’t miss me whilst I was away?” 

“no. get out. you’re too distracting. unlike you, some people actually have work to do in this tower. some people being me, of course.”

“How is it distracting if I just sit here quietly whilst you work? Actually, I just came back from a mission, one that was crucial to the Initiative's survival, what do you do again?”

“You could be bringing in infections” Pothos’ warned with a lack of concern as his eyes wandered the infirmary. “Why would you want to be in here anyway dude?”

“Are you insinuating that I’m not clean?” Atropos feigned hurt as he watched his friend work. “I’m here because I’m bored! I just finished a rather trying mission and need to unwind, care to help me?”

“Just this once.”

“Thanks, love, you’re an absolute life saver.”

❝ I honestly thought you were going to try to bribe me out of here with food. I’m a tad bit disappointed at the effort. ❞

“I knew you most likely wouldn’t come with me even if I brought food. I was correct in my assumption, right?”

“My job.” Phoebe shrugged, “What about you?”

“Relaxing.” Atropos paused slightly before speaking again. “I just got back from an assignment and it was more difficult than I anticipated.”

❝ Well don’t complain to me when you get bored of watching me fix up a bunch of computers to my liking. ❞

“What do you suggest I do then, because I came to you hoping for a cure for my boredom?”

“Just stay out of the way, at least.”

“I’ll try my very hardest, what is it you’re doing here exactly?”
