“ You could stop bloody following me for one? “
He stops for just a second once he’s turned the corner and James pauses
to finally fasten his trousers. This was ridiculous. He’s half tempted to
throw the joke cheque at the man and then deal with the shoutting later.
At this point the offended expression wasn’t even worth waiting for, so he
supposes he could scrap the whole idea together and just pass along the
real one.
No, he’s gone this far into the little joke he’s not going to back out now.
“ Why on earth would I want to speak to you directly, Lancelot? You’ve been
nothing but impolite and crude. I don’t want to hear about you wanking
or sending Mycroft sexual texts. “
Armitage continues walking once again, turning off into his office with a deep
breath and settling behind his desk to wait for the mess of the man to come
in and make even his office an uncomfortable location. This situation he’s
gotten himself into is absolutely ridiculous.
“Oh, you’re bloody impossible!” James huffs, as if he’s not the one chasing the other man shirtless down the hall.
It’s a relief once they reach his office and James can close the door behind them. What small amount of embarrassment he’d felt running through the halls of HQ shirtless evaporate entirely once they’re in the privacy of Armitage’s office.
He takes a seat across from the other man’s desk, fixing him with a scowl. “I’m hardly being crude--I was simply explaining what it was I’d been doing when you walked in on me. If you’d just handed me the cheque yourself when you knew I’d be in my office, you wouldn’t be in this position now.”
Leaning forward slightly in the chair, he points an accusatory finger at Armitage. “You need to grow up. Of course we don’t like one another, but as we’re coworkers, it’s not like we can get around the need to see one another occasionally. Especially when you owe me money.”
