Not a little something, a big something. 

I am generally a more quiet person in public. I keep a lot of things to myself, mostly because I don’t want to make anyone who follows me for my art feel isolated. Politics, current events, religion, drama… If you’ve been following me for some time, you know that I don’t publish a lot besides my art. This is intentional. It’s not that I’m apolitical, it’s not that I’m unaware, it’s that I opt to keep things to myself both for my following and because I believe most things can be sorted out privately. 

However, lately, despite numerous attempts to handle things in a private field, I have been met with nothing but resistance. I’ve always censored names of other media and fanbases out of courtesy, but I realize now that all my neutrality does is leave a lot of my peers and friends high and dry. 

So, I want to start off first by addressing some issues I’ve seen with @afraidofmonsters-headcanons​

The person who runs this blog is a dear friend of mine. I know her personally, I talk to her just about every day. She and I have varying opinions, varying reactions, and varying stances on a lot of things. None of that changes that she’s still my very dear friend and one of my best friends. Not terribly long ago, she converted what was previously a blog for another fandom into an AoM themed blog. This was her own conscious decision, I neither asked nor discouraged her from doing so. She asked if I would be upset, that it might draw some negative attention to me, but I told her that it was her blog and she could do as she wanted. Her reasoning for changing the blog was because someone on the crew of the old fandom’s focus was known to be cruel to numerous people she was friends with. I myself have had only negative experiences in that person’s sphere. I have seen the full proof of what another friend went through, mentioning that he may want to publish the proof, but he was extremely hesitant for fear of backlash. My friend who runs the blog was essentially called a liar, and that started a lot of hate toward her, including but not limited to people trying to the following, on both her own blog and her main blog @atlantean-angel​ : 

The last one I find especially hilarious because they misspelled my name. I guess that’s one perk for having a very foreign name. But seriously, these are disgusting. 

Whoever you are, whatever you think you’re doing for me (who is “pure and doesn’t deserve this” according to you), you’re not doing for me. The blog’s mod is my friend. Even if we outright fought, I would never ever wish this one her. She has been nothing but kind and supportive to me. She’s respected my opinions, I’ve respected hers. The only thing I didn’t respect enough about her was the fact that she always stands up for me and that I wasn’t standing up for her because I wanted to maintain neutrality. 

I want to make it clear that this harassment has not driven me and Kat apart, and that she is still my best friend. If me speaking with her in her livestreams, making her fanart, and publicly interacting with her hadn’t made that clear enough, here’s solid confirmation.

I think it’s sad and pathetic that people would stoop so low to imitate my best friend to me, and even sadder that they think they’re actually accomplishing something. 

Those of you who follow my art or my comic may have seen some “drama” go down on the @afraidofmonsters-headcanons​ blog, see my prior post. From my understanding, a lot of this drama erupted because a lot of people close to the mod were harmed by Faustisse, an artist who worked a project called Hazbin Hotel, which the blog was dedicated to before it changed over. A lot of accusations came out about her, including my own negative experience about her, which I can elaborate on later. That’s not what really infuriates me though, because honestly, I was perfectly content to just let it be a personal issue and be done with it. What infuriates me is that another friend of mine posted his own negative experience, but was hesitant to post screenshots for fear of backlash. This is the original post. Once again, I will state, my issue was with Faustisse, and my friend’s issue was with Faustisse. I can’t speak for every story in the post, because I don’t have all the information, but I do have the information from my friend. 

In response to these accusations against Faustisse, the project’s main creator, Vivziepop, came out and said this publicly and directly on the post itself: 

She came out and called every person who came forward a liar, claiming that the blog was only spreading lies by posting this. Now, I do not immediately blame her. Perhaps she was mislead. Perhaps she was lied to. I’m not saying she was even aware of the full story, after all her friend was the one who’d need to explain it. That’s fine. Recently, however, another artist informed me that Vivziepop was going through her sister to apologize to them. She also claims she doesn’t want to be associated with Faustisse. That’s fine. But if she doesn’t want to be associated, it would be nice if she didn’t run to her aid to defend her. If you’re going to defend somebody and accuse everybody else of lying, you’re putting yourself in that space. I reached out to her sister and asked if she would be willing to discuss this, since she had essentially called my friend a liar to protect Faustisse. I was told “We’re not involved”, and when I posted the image of the direct involvement, I was blocked in response. I don’t understand why, if you don’t want to be associated, you wouldn’t at least hear out the evidence. For years, I have tried to be neutral, I have been quiet, I have kept in my lane, I have kept things to my private conversations, and I have tried to sort things out on the side. It didn’t go anywhere. 

So, here’s the proof, on behalf of my friend. “Nobody appreciates full on lies.” These are not lies. Here’s the evidence. 

These are all posted with his permission. And since the response to his accusation is essentially “These are baseless” i.e. “You just have no proof”, this is the proof they want. 

Background Reference: My friend, who has commissioned and supported numerous artists, donating thousands of dollars of his own money to numerous individual indie artists, commissioned a sketch from Faustisse. When he says below “it’s been a week”, this was after eight months of waiting for the sketch. When he’d asked about it, she gave him a deadline, and this message from him was a week after that deadline. She claims to be busy, but consider this: Between accepting his commission, and the date of these, she opened a new batch of commissions and was already completing work from the second batch before even getting to his. 

For reference, I have done commissions for my friend, numerous artists have. He is not a stickler for time. He became worried because a week passed since Faustisse’s own given deadline, and he heard absolutely nothing from him. I asked numerous artists their opinion on this interaction, and they have all unanimously agreed that this is the first indication of lack of professionalism. You can be late, but communicate. 

Keep in mind, he has supported her constantly financially at this point. The time between when she says “I appreciate your concern” and “On second thought, I’m refunding you, I have no interest in this anymore.” After eight months. At that point it’s a loan, and loans usually come with interest. 

She essentially tells him that she refunded him, so however he feels is irrelevant. Despite claiming the delay was on her being busy, she also immediately opens up another slot. He wrote her a message expressing that he felt that he was treated unprofessionally, and when he did this, she turned around and attacked him, implied that he was a disgusting person, attacked his commission itself, and so on. He’s expressed that he feels unwelcome by everyone around her after this, despite contributing a ton of funding to their projects. When he finally worked up the courage to try to come out with his story through a friend, he was met by the main creator calling him a liar. 

Am I saying she owes him any work?? No. Am I saying that Vivziepop is to blame or even knew?? No. I’m not saying any of that. But when I tried to reach out on his behalf, to ask that she take back publicly calling him a liar, I was blocked for it. I was told “We’re not involved with whatever Faustisse does”, and when I said “You are involved in posting this”, I was blocked. 

All I came out to prove in this is that my friend is not a liar, and that @afraidofmonsters-headcanons​ is not simply “publishing lies”. This kind of treatment from Faustisse pushed him over into a depression, he felt anxious about commissioning other artists, he took the personal attacks he received to heart. He was treated extremely cruelly. He never said “Cancel this person, stop talking to this person.” He came out in the same way any customer would make a Buyer Beware, to say “This is how I was treated and I feel it was wrong.” @afraidofmonsters-headcanons​ came out and said “I am no longer associated with this fandom because of multiple people I know have had a toxic experience with this artist”. And they were publicly denounced over it, resulting in tons of hatred to the latter, and a ton of anxiety to the former. All I wanted was to a “Hey, sorry for publicly calling you a liar when I didn’t have all the information.” But they couldn’t be afforded that. So that’s it, this is me saying, “Here, here’s proof they’re not liars.”

I’m not asking for anybody to cancel anyone. If anything, I’m asking that artists be more worried about their own behaviors that would result in a Buyer Beware over harassing people who come forward. If there are things being said that you don’t like hearing, maybe let your friends know you actually did it before they rush to your aid publicly.
