I will never get over Carmy’s unnecessary sweetness/compliments to Sydney:
“You were great today” -> very random, very unnecessary
“I like this” -> specifically referring to literally just standing next to her. Very random. Very unnecessary.
(Claiming the experimental marinade is good despite having to spit it out a moment later 😭) -> just plain sweet
“You look nice,” -> said with the wide eyed stare. Cute.
After getting kind of frustrated with her “what should I have done?” -> very mindful, very demure.
“You make me better at this” -> craaazyyy work. We love it.
“You’re kind and you allow yourself to feel things” -> said mid-fight, mind you. We love him.
“I wouldn’t even want to do this without you” -> literally insane. I love him.
“Excellent,” -> we all gasped.
“Is that what you want?” -> said when he agrees to make a massive change just because she told him to (he also owed her so, we love it).
“Say more, please?” -> every single time he’s ever said it has been good. I love him for this specifically.
That specific worried face plus worried rambling he did when he realized she had spent time alone with his mother.
That time he was mad about the shelves, Sydney put him in his place, and he like immediately crumbled with guilt -> very mindful, very demure.
That time they were celebrating after the fire suppression test and his first instinct was to go to Sydney with open arms because he’s adorable.
“You want a star?” -> specifically that one time he asked with the tone of voice of someone, like, about to get up and go fetch something for you. Like “this one? Bet.”
“I got something for you,” then getting up, giving it to her, saying something truly meaningful and then walking away so she can open it alone??? Hello??? That was so thoughtful.
“Oh, we’ll get you a cleaver” -> okay Mr. Money bags. Damn.
The only good part from that god awful wedding table scene, when Syd comes under the table and Carmy seeks her out with his eyes, and Claire tries to make a joke about Carmy’s very real mental issues and Sydney throws him a life line and he just smiles very sweetly and goes along with it. That was good.
Going back to the coat, let’s not forget that it was fucking expensive, dude. And he just did that, based on a look and a laugh.
“You like taking care of people” -> both times I can remember him bringing this up are good, but I like the earlier time most because it was said with a different intention.
