if i am ever writing a Vlad book, it will be solely for the scene where This Guy, who can overlook a bunch of horrific shit but draws the line at exposing children to foul language, has a moment where a kid (who he definitely not accidentally acquired and is now raising, Vlad shut up for once in your life) asks him something and he is so focused thinking over whatever case had him not sleeping for 3 days, that all his braincells manage is slipping an accidental quiet "dracu știe"

the kid turns to stare at Vlad. it takes Vlad some good seconds to realise the kid is actually expecting an answer from him. he shrugs an "i dunno"

the kid frowns and says "he said you know" in all earnest

it takes several seconds for both men to sink in what the kid means

Vlad is trying his hardest to keep a straight face, while The Guy is scrambling between being horrified he cursed in front of the child, to the child, and relieved he has not yet tainted the kid's ears
