Is it bad that I prioritised getting and decorating my Christmas tree over unpacking or ensuring that I actually had any food in my house? Because I might have done just thatā¦Ā
If it were any other time of the year it might be considered a little odd, but itās Christmas! Christmas tree decorating takes first priority above everything.Ā
Ā Iād like to say it people do get used to it, but thatās just my experience. For now, perhaps it would be useful to invest in a massive industrial strength coat. The thing is, whatās hot here is probably normal in the US, so youād be fine, no doubt.
Thatās the freaky side of food, the pig organ pies. Theyāre a bit of a no-go. The English breakfasts though, thatās a whole different story.Ā
I will go buy one of those first thing in the morning.. hell, I might even buy two just for the sake of having a spare. I feel like I could get surprised with a blizzard the longer I wait.Ā
English breakfasts, man. Thereās nothing like the breakfasts that you guys have got around here.Ā

āRight? I mean, they can stop by and see them whenever they want. Itās hard to beat that.ā At least her brother was preoccupied with shopping for his wife as well, he had someone else to buy the best gift for while she really only had to worry about her parents. The perks of being single.Ā āOh, you have a point! I have the upper hand. I can get them something all cool and London related and heāll just be buying the same, boring American gifts he has for the past twenty six years. ā Or maybe not twenty six, he probably wasnāt doing much shopping when he was an infantā but you get that.ā
At his question, she nodded, brushing a strand of windblown hair out of her face.Ā āYeah, I think thereās a few here and there, but I know for a fact thereās one on Kensington High Street, itās pretty cool.ā It was odd to be the one to know how to get somewhere, but she liked it. London was her home for now, and it was best if she knew her way around, even if that just meant being able to get to the grocery store and back in one piece.Ā āWell, arenāt your friends special? I mean, we still have time, sure. But itād be nice to have everything done and not have to worry about it. Youāre right, though. Walmart and Target have spoiled us. I actually forget that some stores donāt stay open 24/7. Iāll think Iām going to swing by a grocery store and then I get there and I see itās closed and itās the most confusing thing in the world. Itās terrible.ā
āItās easy when youāre a kid. You get that whole hand made advantage and donāt really need to think out of the box if youāve got a good christmas tree stencil.ā Adam said as he laughed and walked on, looking at all the stores that seemed to be cramped into a single street.Ā āMy brotherās been hinting at something great for our parents for a while now so Iām getting nervous. Maybe I can get them one of those hoverboard things.. is that appropriate for fifty something year olds?āĀ
āKensington High Street, I havenāt been there but Iāll add it to the list.ā Adam said grateful to have some advice on where to check out from new friends. He wasnāt very used to London considering heād been an LA guy for all of his life until he moved,Ā āthe only places I know how to get to are the stadium and one of the arenas, itās that bad..ā he said ashamed of his limited knowledge of the place.Ā āOh I know. Itās crazy how entitled I feel to a midnight grocery run because of America and how it spoils us all. How long have you been roughing it out here in London?āĀ
Why is the inside of a coconut called āmeatā? Is that really what you call it?
Thatās weird.. I have to admit I like it more than coconutĀ āfleshā though. That would be a little creepier.Ā

Dogs=1 Christmas Tree=0.
How on Earth my two dogs who weigh under ten pounds each managed to get it down is beyond me.Ā Yet there my tree lies on the floor, ornaments every where all chewed up. Oh the mess I have to clean up!
Maybe they thought it was some kind of game to be the first to get it down? Iād be even more impressed ifĀ āTimberā by Ke$ha was playing while they accomplished that.Ā
Let me know if you need help cleaning up though, Iām Adam.Ā
Help me up and out // open
Hyde Park around Christmas was beautiful. Behati had been there already last year and she had loved it a lot. It had the flair of European Christmas markets that she had visited before in Switzerland or Austria and to see that in London was beautiful for her. From all she remembered there was an ice rink, lots of food and hot beverages and also beautiful little things to buy and maybe use as gifts for Christmas. Behati really had not thought she would go to Hyde Park to ice skate, she had planned to just take a stroll, maybe get some drink, which she did, not thinking that the moussed wine would be quite as strong and not too long after she found herself feeling adventurous and actually moved towards the ice rink. Apparently nobody at the think cared for the fact that she was slightly intoxicated already and after being handed skates in her size the model quickly changed her sneakers for them and tried to walk over to the rink which was a lot more difficult with skates on her feet than she had expected.Ā
Another thing she had underestimated was the influence of the drink she had previously had on her already rather terrible sense of balance. She was awkardly clutching onto the side of the rink, much like most of the toddlers on the hands of their parents and once she risked to move on her own she immediately managed to bump into the person next to her who she had not seen, way too focused on herself. Thank god she only fell herself and didnt make the other person fall over.Ā āShit, Iām sorry!ā She exclaimed in shock before she grinnedĀ āTo make this even more awkward, would you help me up?āĀ
It wasnāt a secret that Adam liked to skate. Any kind of skating, he didnāt have any preference in particular but seeing as there were no skateboards or rollerblades around in London as far as he saw, he took a chance with Ice skating, waiting in line trying not to attract any attention in his maroon sweater, dark jeans and beanie, he had his eyes set on the ice and failed to notice anything else until he felt someone bumping into his side.Ā āOh hey whoa, do you need some help?ā he asked before concentrating and seeing that it was Behati.Ā
āBee?ā he asked, chuckling a little at her clumsiness and helping her up with both hands, steadying her and smelling the faint scent of alcohol lingering around her.Ā āYou were planning on ice skating.. alone.. and tipsy?ā he asked, letting go of her when she looked like she could stand and balance on her own two feet.Ā āItās good to see you.ā he said, giving her a kind smile and giving her a hand on to the ice when it was their turn,Ā āI donāt have to hang around you if you donāt want me to, but, be careful okay?ā he asked, feeling a little nervous for what would happen if he left her alone on the ice.Ā
Been sitting here for a while, procrastinating on my unpacking duties, not watching Christmas movies nor eating snacks, thinking about an introduction. But nothing came to mind. Hello, Iām Dianna Agron and Iām way too jetlagged.Ā
Iām Adam and I know that kind of jet lag all too well. Hey Dianna, that was a pretty good intro. Ā What brings you to London?Ā
Well, itās official⦠The woman my brotherās beenĀ ādatingā for the past two months is pregnant. Iām going to be an aunt.
Is that a good thing? If so, congratulations.Ā
Youāll develop one, for sure. A lot of people do and they donāt even notice the cold. Perhaps thatās why people are so shocked when it gets hot in the summer.Ā
Things are going well for me, thanks. Iāve had good excuses to eat a lot of Christmas food, so that has to count for something. Howās life been treating you, then?
Iām giving it a few more weeks to get used to this cold but hereās hoping. I canāt imagine London hot with how cold it gets but Iāll take your word for that and look forward to the summer.Ā
Christmas food is great here, one thing I canāt get myself to try is that pie full of pig organs.. I donāt think Iāll ever be able to stomach that one.Ā

āIt can be pretty brutal,ā Debby laughed, though it didnāt bother her all that much. As she stood there talking to him, it was easy to tell that the cold was cutting through every layer of her clothing, but she was just so happy to be back in London and so determined, that it would take a lot to keep her locked up inside, even if it was warm and cozy there.Ā āOh my God, I know exactly how you feel. Iāll have to make sure my brother doesnāt get my parents a better gift either. Iāll have to be sneaky and just ask him what heās thinking about so I know I pay more.ā She laughed, but she was also being serious. Even if the price wasnāt everything, she would like to match it, and also get something sentimental. That was where it got tricky. āI wonāt let him become the favorite just because Iām living in another country, no way.ā
Glancing around them, she shook her head, a small sigh leaving her lips.Ā āNot really. Iāve been so busy, the most shopping Iāve done so far isā well, a little decorating, and then just groceries. So I can point you to the nearest Whole Foods Market. Any other store and Iām probably useless.ā She wished she could help him out, give him directions or some tips, but sheād put so much work on herself that it was all she had really been doing.Ā āI donāt know. Maybe. God, who are you friends with? Iām pretty confident the majority of my friends are even less prepared than I am,ā she laughed.Ā āI consider last minute scrambling to buy and wrap your gifts at four am on Christmas Eve.ā
āBrothers who are living where parents are always have the upper hand so it would seem.ā Adam said, laughing and shaking his head knowing that his siblings would, as per usual, be all over each other on who was getting their parents the better gift, usually Michael won but Adam was determined to get the best one this year.Ā āThatās the hard thing about not being at home around this time of the year, but you can think of it as being able to find stuff that they probably wonāt expect, something unusual because they canāt find it in the States?ā he said, hoping he was making at least a remote bit of sense.Ā
āIs there a whole foods here? That would actually be really helpful because Iāve been looking for a place besides Marks and Spencers which is everywhere around here.ā he said smiling and walking on, happy to have some company at least for a while as they walked around.Ā āMy friends are crazy productive all the time, and theyāre crazy overachievers when it comes to getting christmas shopping done early.ā he said thinking of Gene and all his other friends back home.Ā āEveryone does that, prepared or not. I think itās an american thing cause weāre so used to being spoiled with 24 hour Walmarts and Targets.āĀ

Debby had no sooner stepped off the plane before she was making phone calls to her band mates, desperate to get her career moving once again. Before she had left to visit home for Thanksgiving, completely forgetting about the holiday until her mother called to ask if she was coming home, she had been in the midst of recording an album and playing gigs almost every other night, and she felt guilty knowing that it was her fault everything was put on hold. A quick cab ride back to her place to check on her cats, though she had only been gone a few days and made sure she left them more than enough food and water, and then she was out and about, though she didnāt know where she was going. She just knew that if she stayed in her flat any longer, she would end up drifting to sleep, and she couldnāt deal with a screwed up sleep schedule on top of everything else.
She would be back to work the next morning, bright and early, heading for the studio, so for now, being out and surrounded by people sounded like a good idea. She didnāt know how long it would be until she had more free time to just explore the city. Tucked into a jacket, her hair a little more windswept than she would have liked it to be, it took her a minute to realize anyone was talking to herĀ in the middle of the crowd.Ā āOh, hi,ā she replied after a second, a smile on her face, immediately putting a name to the manās face, someone she had talked to before. But even if she hadnāt, who wouldnāt recognize Adam Levine?Ā āActually, I donāt know what Iām here for,ā Debby laughed, āJust⦠getting some fresh air, I guess. I donāt even know where to start with my Christmas shopping. I think Iām a little nervous to tackle all of that. I applaud you for not waiting until the last minute, though.ā
āItās the first time Iāve walked somewhere outside the 2 block radius of my place for the past week, Iāve just been finding this cold a nightmare to deal with.ā Adam said, moving forward closer to the girl heād met recently, happy to see a familiar face. āI didnāt even realise I was so behind on christmas shopping till I talked to my brother on the phone and all he could talk about was the great gift he got for our mom. Being the competitive person I am, that was all the willpower it took to get my out of bed and out here on the streets to find her the best gift and beat Michael with the best gift our mom will ever have.ā he said, headstrong and excited to go and find something no less than perfect.
āDo you come here often? Do you know if there are more shops to look at here or towards the outskirts of the city? I just want to know where Iāll have more options to look at and think about. Man, isnāt this last minute though? When I was talking to my friends last week, they were all busy wrapping presents and I was beginning to wonder why people get it done that early until now when I realise those people were the smart ones to get everything done.ā .

Adam had been playing hookie in his apartment for the past few days but the sudden feeling of desperation came over him when he forgot that he hadnāt gotten his christmas shopping done yet. So with that in mind, he braved the cold and took the tube downtown to hopefully stumble on some presents for friends and family to get ready to ship back to LA within the week. He loved buying christmas gifts, but got frustrated when he canāt find the right thing for everyone.Ā
He was walking along a busy street when he turned and saw a familiar face. He waved and smiled,Ā āHey! Looks like we had the same idea. Are you here to buy christmas gifts?āĀ
The challenges of not being a Brit then? I suppose we become accustomed to the cold, in the same way that a lot of Brits would fry like bacon in California. You could count yourself lucky in that aspect?
Great to meet you, Iām Bradley.
Thereās good and bad to be said about both. Iād be thankful for an increased cold tolerance right now though.Ā
Hey, man. Hows it going?Ā
That would indeed be where I am headed. You would be welcome to tag along if youād like, but I wouldnāt want a lawsuit on my hands if you managed to get food poisoning or something.
Iām so jealous of you but christmas here wonāt be so bad. I finally settled into my apartment so itās got that home-like vibe. That plus people seem nice enough.Ā

Oh, you met Gigi already? That girlās always beating me to everything. But thatās exciting, a new album? Londonās a pretty lively place. Iām sure youāll find plenty of inspiration here.
Yeah I did, she was really nice. You both are. Itās lively if I make it out for long enough to see explore without freezing.Ā
Basically work brought me here, but now I just love it and cant seemed to let go of London anymore. What about you? Please tell me you are working on a new album?
I am actually, trying to get some new ideas and I thought being in London would give that kind of fresh perspective to add something new to it.Ā
