@dangaer whispered: ❛ ... i'm beginning to have a bad feeling about this. ❜ despite it, does he choose to remain by her side, the both of them the only ones banned from the house of lamentation's kitchens, pushed aside by his younger brothers' insistence that they take the time to prepare tonight's selection of dishes, to say thank you for all the hard work they both have managed to go through. it's not ... a bad request, not by any means, but he is more than aware of the hijinks that are about to occur, a matter of fact he knows that bella should be too, considering how often some of the youngest try their best to involve her, never out of malice but hopefulness, the opportunity to balance things out before they turn too badly from their own favour. ❛ did the council take a lesson in gratitude, today? i'm concerned that they owe me something that i have yet to discover yet. ❜
a phrase too candid, he supposes; more than familiar with his own distrusting nature for what may be the actions of somewhat kindhearted souls. he's half tempted to ask if she would like a drink, snack, anything to allow him to sneak in, but as their brother, as the eldest kin; he resists, something paramount in the way he chooses to face her instead, the hands almost pinching at the bridge of his nose to come back to his side, a tilt of his head to turn them both elsewhere. ❛ maybe it'd be best to set the table instead. anything close to a crash will have me running in before they can blink. ❜ and there's plenty of reasons for a kitchen to do as such, many occurrences he has fallen foul of should he recall upon it. ❛ some of the candles need restocking, have i ever shown you where they may be? ❜ / from lucifer! <3
UNPROMPTED (or shiny lost the meme)
{ ♪ } -- It was an odd feeling to be pushed out of the kitchen in favor of the others working on dinner. She took great joy in cooking, so while she appreciated the gesture she could also feel her skin itching with the desire to be in there and doing what she did best.
"I'm... cautiously optimistic. It's very likely that something is going on and they don't want either of us to be mad about it. But it's possible this is just genuine gratitude. Unlikely, but possible all the same."
Sometimes, Bella would participate in the shenanigans that the other brothers would try to bring up. Being a menace was fun on occasion, after all. But most of the time she was on the side of Lucifer, wanting to ensure peace reigned in the household for the most part.
Chuckling, she nodded her head slowly. Setting the table was safe. His concern for his brothers was heartwarming, though. He framed it as annoyance at times, but she could tell just how much he treasured his kin. Or, at least, she thought she could. It seemed to her that nothing would stop him from trying his best to keep them all safe.
"It's lovely how much you care about them." Then, as if she hadn't said as much, she continued on. "Let's go get those candles before you get called in there."
