I’ve been ogling beautiful bikes long enough that I wanted to contribute my own rather than always be consuming. Instagram felt so foreign with AI features and I struggled to figure out how to even share a gallery. So here we are. Back on tumblr after 5 years.

Anyway, this is my lilac surly midnight special. It’s my first build from scratch. My other bikes have always come together over time and as needs or wants arose. This was a top to bottom build with aesthetics being top priority. Also, it’s my first “road” bike!

Arriving in San Cristobal de las Casas

We caught a red eye to Mexico city. A few hours later we hopped on a short flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez.

A bit lost, we asked how to get to San Cristobal at the tourism desk. We were given two options and chose the one that sounded familiar from our research.

Just a few minutes later we were on a bus going up the mountain to San Cristobal.

The bus driver put on a radio station that played nothing but marimba music! Somehow, nearly half the other passengers were sound asleep.

As we made our way up the mountain, the landscape became more green and spots of vibrant yellow-orange soil popped.

We eventually made it up into the clouds and the forests started to become enveloped in fog.

Starting a new tumblr as I’m hoping it will be easier to look back on than Instagram.
