Name: Possulent (Possum + Succulent)

Type: Grass

Height: 6” tall, 2’0” long

Weight: 7lbs

Pokedex entry: Possulent are small ditzy creatures, their beady red eyes are very sensitive to light therefore they are spotted more often at night. They, along with Occactus, eat Humite and Arachmidity.

Evolution method: Evolves into Occactus at level 26

Name: Occactus (Opossum + Cactus)

Type: Grass/Dark

Height: 9” tall, 2’7” long

Weight: 14lbs

Pokedex entry: Occactus are violent creatures and defend their territory with vigor. When raising young they keep them in their bristle-like neck fur until they are old enough to hunt.

Name: Humite (Humid + Mite)

Type: Water/Normal

Height: 3in

Weight: 50g

Pokedex entry: Humite are incredibly small pokemon, they jump about to get around and are often spotted in the rain. Their main predators are Pidove and Rufflet, they puff up real big in an attempt to intimidate. Their fur is too short and fine to style properly, it thickens and curls as they grow closer to evolving. They are often found nestled between the bands of Soladillo and Solarmor, sucking up the energy generated.

Evolution method: Evolves into Arachmitity at level 26 in the Rain

Name: Arachmitity (Arachnid + Mite + Humidity)

Type: Water/Bug

Height: 7in

Weight: 100g

Pokedex entry: Arachmitity evolved defensive mimicry by having a Pidove face on their abdomen. They love styling their curtly fur, afro puffs being the most common. Doing each other’s hair is often a very personal bonding activity. They still absorb the energy of Solarmor but are no longer small enough to fit between bands. When a Humite evolves while on a Soladillo or Solarmor they get stuck and are unable to leave causing the pokemon more irritation than before.

Name: Soladillo (Solar + Armadillo)

Type: Fire

Height: 2ft

Weight: 20lbs

Pokedex entry: Soladillo are slow passive pokemon, often wandering about. They are easy to catch off guard and roll up when scared. They have a rivalry with Possulent and the two can be seen fighting for the sunniest parts of the desert.

Evolution method(s): Evolves to Solarmor at level 25 holding a Metal Coat

Name: Solarmor (Solar + Armadillo + Armor)

Type: Fire/Steel

Height: 4’7”

Weight: 50lbs

Pokedex entry: Solarmor are fierce predators and often go after Possulent as prey. They roll into a ball and attack their opponents with their super heated bands. Their old rivalry with Possulent is not forgotten, however as Occactus and Solarmor still compete for territory.

For Possulent and Occactus the idea was pretty simple, a cactus opossum. They’re very simple and I didn’t really think too hard about the colors. I liked looking at photos of opossums for the poses though, in hindsight Possulent would’ve been more similar to a baby opossum, they suffer the most from “it gets bigger” as they’re not very different. Occactus also doesn’t have the flank spikes because I forgot they were there when drawing them.

For Humite I didnt really reference anything for the pose but Arachmidity is posed from a real photo of a spider. For the shiny I just thought pink would be cute, and blue pokemon tend to turn pink anyway. The hair idea came from my friend, they reasoned that since humidity makes your hair frizzy the pokemon should be fluffy. I’ve always thought afro puffs were cute so I gave it to them. The Pidove face was my idea, the abdomen looked like it was missing something so I came up with the idea of Pidove eating them.

Solarmor and Soladillo gave me the most trouble, Solarmor specifically was redrawn like four times. I ended up referencing Typhlosion for the pose on the suggestion of someone on the fakemon reddit. The old pose had them very much just standing there. I had the tail be large like a kangaroo’s but I scrapped it for balancing purposes. The colors were hard to grasp too, we eventually landed on basing them off of star colors, so the less hot Soladillo is red and orange, the hotter Solarmor is yellow and white and the shinies are blue and purple because they were what was left.

One last design anecdote, they all have different eyes. As in I drew them differently for each line, this wasn’t on purpose but it is neat :D

Also!! As a thanks for making it to the end of the post, here are the starter designs from 2020 these are based on! It’s hard to believe these are the same concepts (cactus opossum, humidity spider and sun armadillo), especially since the designs are so… bad

For one, the old Possulent and Soladillo are “it just gets bigger” and “it just stands up” and for all six pokemon that is NOT the right body type for the animals they’re based on. They’re also all so uninspired. Ill admit the new Possulent isn’t very inspired as theres no third idea like Humite (frizzy and curly hair) and Soladillo (Solar panels) but Occactus is probably still my favorite design from the bunch. Finally, Hurachmid and Spumid are kinda bad names lol
