The looks she used to give me when I wore fur were hilarious; it was like she thought she could actually make me feel bad for it all. So preachy. And why is she always smiling? Pathetic. I wouldn’t even let her clean my home. Which I know is her job, seeing how she most likely can’t do anything else. The one time I had to talk to her was an absolute nightmare. There is no substance to that girl.”

“Oh, my. Can I be frank with you? I’ve never designed anything I wasn’t proud of after the age of fourteen, but there was this dress... Black, of course. Just... The most perfect thing I’ve ever designed. I felt like I had just built Versailles all by myself when I finished it. It was a work of art, and I still regret having sold it, no matter how much money I got in exchange. It’s not like I need any more money, is it? I still have pictures somewhere, but it hurts to bring them back up. I can’t touch it anymore, and that might be the one and only sad thing in my life.”

“Not to sound too conceited, but... Just kidding. I don’t care what I sound like: no one’s ever managed to please me the way I have.”

“That’s adorable, darling,” Adéline drawled out the words slowly, a half-smile gracing their features as the shuffled through the papers on their desk. They honestly had no idea what Peter was going on about, and what he was even doing in their atelier, but Adéline didn’t care. They felt nothing but amused by the words that had come out of the boy’s mouth. Children didn’t scare Cruella de Vil. They never had. Possibly, they had done something to anger Peter. They, in fact, did a lot of things that could anger others, and unfortunately didn’t keep track of them. They may have liked bullet journaling, but they thought that keeping track of their ‘bad’ actions was a bit pathetic. These things came naturally to Adéline, and they didn’t need a record of them.

Finally looking up after a while, they noticed that Peter was still standing in front of their desk, and they raised an eyebrow as they looked him up and down. He wasn’t the worst dressed in town - that professor that had dared set foot into their store definitely wore that crown with pride - but he still wasn’t deserving of standing in the middle of such a beautiful atelier, in Adéline’s own humble opinion. “Shoo, little boy. I have work to do.”

The smirk that appeared on Adéline’s face was nothing but subtle as they watched the show in front of them. The town had decided to put on a fashion show featuring all its designers, and of course, they had kept the best for last. Which meant that Adéline had another half hour to wait and waste their time looking at others’ creations. Which were, in Adéline’s humble opinion, simply dreadful. Therefore, to hear their friend seem to agree with that made them feel just that less bored. Complaining on one’s own could get quite boring, but with a friend? Well, it became a fascinating activity in and of itself.

“I haven’t since so much grey since before they created colour televisions. I wouldn’t be surprised if we all passed out from boredom before they’ve finished showing up their creations. But sure, I’ll inject you with some caffeine asap.”
