Shigaraki: We’re going to set up a trap for Midoriya. All we need is bait.
Dabi: Bait?
Shigaraki: Y’know, something he couldn’t resist.
Literally Everyone: [ looks at Bakugou ]
Deku be like: *awkward stuttering* *nervous laughter* *blushes* *unleashes god like power*
me thinkin about izuku’s clear anger problems especially involving his unhealthy obsession with katsuki while this entire fandom and also the damn characters are so focused on kat like dudes. my dudes.
izuku loves katsuki more than life itself in all the good and bad ways and would sell your ass to satan for a corn chip to save him (if someone wasn’t present to stop him lbr here)
everyones talking about rip midoriya ‘cause he’s dealing with all the family drama, but no. no.
RIP in fucking pieces Manual: The motherfucking Normal Hero who did not sign up for keeping up with the todoroki’s, OR bakugou’s swiss cheesery eureaka moment, OR aizawa’s tis but a scratch leg removal OR midoriya’s double whammy chamber of secrets-esque arm deboning shenanigans and his avatar cycle bending battle with shigaraki. Not to mention last time he was near a UA intern, that kid went to fucking murder someone, and guess what, manual has to deal with him right now too.
Normal Hero: Manual, watching all this clownery happen right before his very eyes
#somebody give this man a medal for being dragged thru the thick of it by midoriya and co. Manual is re-accessing his desire to take in interns these kids are wack how did they even become like this? *looks over to Aizawa cutting off his own leg without hesitation* Ah I see thats why
😂 let the poor man water his potted plants in peace, maybe hang out with RockLock’s family
Aizawa: hey Manual u did a good job helping Iida and me, i might have some more kids for u next time
Manual: …is it too late to run
Manual turning around to see the 16 year old broccoli-head intern that took down Stain go up against the now God-powered 20 year old by using the power of arm-breaking
Manual turning back around just in time to see Aizawa chop off his own leg after getting shot by a quirk erasing bullet
Manual turning back to see if Deku survived only to find the explosion kid with a temper push Deku out of the way and get impaled by the God-powered 20 year old’s spider legs
Turning around again when he hears some random guys scream “DANCE WITH YOUR SON IN HELL” and seeing the apparently not-dead Todoroki Touya dance and yell about his daddy issues
When Iida “I need to avenge my brother by murdering his attacker” Tenya shows up to the party
pray for this man

I came to the realisation that bakugou used to represent all the values the hero society upholds and deku used to represent all the values the hero society pretends to uphold.
In and of itself, both versions of them don’t work since you need a certain showmanship to make the first one stick and the second one is too selfless to be realised in a power-based society.
As such, they come together and develop in such a way, that they find the middle ground and a way for each to stay true to their values yet conform to that hero society.
All Might is the picture-perfect example of that: selfish yet selfless enough not to get torn to sheds.
yes, yes, yes, yes!! deku is an underdog hero in a very traditional sense but the real reason he’s an underdog has nothing to do with his quirklessness or lack of finesse, it’s because in actual hero work he’d be dead in like a week. and he’d be dead in a week precisely because he’s not pretending to uphold the values of selflessness that hero society puts on a pedestal, he actually follows them.
and this is also why deku is such a fascinating protagonist, because a job where the job is to give up your life to save others isn’t only extremely unhealthy and awful, it’s also completely unsustainable. if heroes did that, they would’ve been wiped out before they even got off the ground.
hence bakugo, and all might, and the reality of heroes–the real core of hero society in bnha is defeating villains, not saving people. and that’s not to say saving people is on the backburner, bc it obviously isn’t, but ultimately the top ranking heroes and the best of all time are the ones who contribute to great, awesome battles against evil villains and defeat them. every single hero who isn’t combat-oriented who is high ranking is below the top 5, and the ones who are rescue-focused don’t seem to get much attention at all even if they’re the ones who actually save the most people.
this is what stain was talking about when he condemned hero society. it’s become a popularity contest, in which battles and violence and trauma are the currency and it doesn’t matter who a hero is as a person, all that matters is how many villains they can defeat. and it’s only compounded by the fact that heroes can climb the ranks by being television personalities or through merch and endorsement deals. heroes are essentially just the violent version of commercialized celebrities and deku directly opposes that by actually, genuinely embodying the values they’re marketed to uphold, which is why stain spared him.
but, at the same time, deku can’t succeed as someone who saves people if he just throws away his life at the drop of a hat. as i said, heroes would be totally useless as an organized force if that’s how they operated. enter bakugo, who is also very fascinating in this context because bakugo embodies the drive to win in a way that conforms to the values hero society upholds perfectly–but he’s incredibly unpopular. his personality, because he actually embodies the selfishness (drive to win/triumph against evil) that hero society rewards, is wildly disliked by everyone (except deku, interestingly). so, despite being exactly what hero society curates, bakugo directly opposes it–he exposes the true nature of the hero world: a society that pretends to value saving people over all else and will reject anyone who can’t play pretend, even if that person embodies the actual (much less venerable) values upheld by the system.
and this is exactly why deku & bakugo need each other. they both challenge the two key gears turning the problems in the hero world–deku its pretending to celebrate saving people, and bakugo its ugliness and vilification of those who don’t pretend. this is also why they’re both the main characters, rather than all might and endeavor or shigaraki (or stain). only they can challenge hero society because they both are genuine, uncorrupted personifications of the two things that make a real hero (and are the principles hero society was founded on): selflessness (saving people) and selfishness (triumphing against evil).
plus they’re learning from each other, rather than other heroes. both of their character development is uniquely catalyzed by the other, and therefore their individual forms of heroism are slowly combining into one–the truest form of heroism possible.
Happy dkbk day to those who celebrate! Have an Izuku based on this text post:

basically them i fear
lovebites tend to be distracting in classroom settings
everybody moved on but I can’t get over ‘my kacchan’ like wdym he actually said that I love him he’s so possessive
big fan of stories that, while undoubtedly being about the power of friendship, acknowledge that the power of incredible violence is just as important
the love was there. the love changed everything. the crowbar helped also
This scene, this scene drives me insane on reread.
Tsukauchi KNEW- He ABSOLUTELY KNEW what would happen. He's been friends with Toshinori for 6 years. He is the first personal friend Toshinori makes after recieving his injuries. Of course he knows Toshinori. Of course he went in to talk with Stain before Toshinori. And Stain is anything but subtle so there's no question about what was said there...
Everyone else we see who tries to reach out to Toshinori all say the same thing. Just Live. Be good. Be you. That's enough. Inko, Sir Nigheye, Aizawa. They're trying to get him to live. Which is all well and good, but none of it is what Toshinori wants to hear.
NAOMASA NO DOUBT KNOWS THAT
But Stain- what Stain says isn't a mere "take care of yourself and live" it's "continue to do what makes you-you, and don't let anything stop you. FUCKING CRAWL IF YOU HAVE TO."
THAT. THAT IS WHAT TOSHINORI WANTS.
JUST LOOK AT THIS MAN. THIS. THIS IS WHAT MAKES HIM FEEL ALIVE. Look at how happy he is through all of this, he's completely unhinged and he's loving it.
Stain approved him doing this shit. And that, THAT is what gives Toshinori the motivation to keep going.
WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY TSUKAUCHI DIDN'T WANT THEM TO MEET! Because all it took, was one interaction. Toshinori found his will to live, he found the means to feel again. But that also means, Toshinori is going to be recklessly driven by his own conviction, regardless of how bad it is for him - and NOBODY will be able to convince him that "just living is enough".
Because Stain told him to keep going without regard for set backs, go until dead. Because that is who All Might is. And that is why Stain loves him so freakin' much.

Two times Katsuki and Izuku analyzed a battle with the same conclusion. First was Ochako and her self-sacrificing strategy, now it's Shoto's quirk ability.
A subtle show of how much they mirror each other in their ambitions and mind, narratively speaking.
As an in-world explanation, aside from naturally thinking similarly to the other from long time exposure to each other, maybe it is from watching the same Hero media analyses (like videos, articles, discussions, forums etc.) because of their similar interests in All Might and heroes throughout their life too! This is just a HC tho!
the most insane thing that horikoshi did for izuku midoriya was making him emotionally repressed but not in the most common way. like deku is very much in terms with his emotional side where he isn't hesitant about crying or offering words of comfort. but he has such a mental block over himself and his own needs which never really gets resolved!! he doesn't spend time introspecting about his own feelings and immediately shoves himself into this mold of what he should be and that's why even when the finale happens, there's this underlying sadness because he never really got to reconcile with his hidden depths
