Yep, this move doesn’t bode well for him. At no point in HOTD has Alyn ever cared about the glory of Old Valyria. So why should Rhaenyra’s words about the higher Valyrian gods be enough for him to murder the equivalent of the Westerosi Pope? Alyn is supposed to be a dutiful person, but this is still a strange direction for his characterization.

That murder scene is yet another diversion from book canon.

Book Addaeron BARS by miles. A pity we never saw them. I am kind of envious of all the characters/actors who are freed from this show. My faves are still stuck.

At this point, I’m not even sure why Daeron was included in the show. His knighthood was unearned because there’s no rescue mission and victory at the Honeywine. Daeron’s role as a scout in the Reach campaign and combatant at Bitterbridge/Tumbleton is nonexistent. Second Tumbleton should happen early on in season four. Which means that there’s hardly enough time to properly develop Daeron amidst the large cast of already existing characters and new characters that will be coming in season four. It’s starting to look like the most significant thing Daeron will do on the show is die.
