“I can’t put into words what I think about anything.”

“For me, acceptance of the loss was the easy part. It was the longing that came afterwards that hurt the most. It’s like when someone you love goes away on a long trip. At first you don’t miss them too terribly bad. You know they’re gone but you know they’ll be home soon. Eventually you really start to miss them and the little things they do; their voice, their face, sharing things with them, etc. You start to long for them and the longing grows bigger and stronger and more painful as time goes on and you wait for that person to come back. It’s just with loss they aren’t coming back and your heart has to learn to let go of that longing ache and realize it can long and beg and plead all it wants to get the relief of seeing that person again and talking to them and sharing etc, but it’s never going to get it. It’s the longing that feels like a knife in your heart, long after you’ve accepted what happened in your head. It never really goes away, it just becomes duller and I think that’s the ache you feel inside when you loose somebody.”

Fun story, I had two different service dogs react to me and both owners were like “r u okay?”
