HIS POWER: DARK MAGIC (basically he can't do magic that doesn't have some negative effect on others, they can only positively affect him, these include: status effects, hypnosis, soul capture, can transform others, body puppetry, voodoo, necromancy (though he can't straight up revive, he can only being them back as mindless beings with no memory, said beings also lost their powers), hellfire manipulation, transmutation, shapeshifting, object creation, summoning, teleportation, flight, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, astral projection, self-healing, power bestowal (albeit makes the receiver get a debuff in some way), jarate summoning-basically he can do all the things Merasmus from tf2 can do, just much stronger in typical ultimatum fashion (with the addition of being able to inflict marasmus, guess why) however he can't time travel as that is the sole power of Father Time, and no ultimatum can share a direct power with a Magic High Commission member as they fear an average ultimatum might exploit it for bad purposes, also his original power was that he didn't have one, ill elaborate more)
speaking of which, you might be confused why he looks so much like Merasmus...gimme a sec to get into that
so first of, Ludo starts off the show as a runt, just a little slave to a bigger group of criminals, however, when he gets his power, he is confused and realizes that his power is that he can STEAL the cortex soul of someone who has died and thus gain their power, but it is permanent and will only work once
a cortex soul is the soul of an ULTIMATUM, in the cortex soul, all the other souls they host are there, so yeah basically a cortex soul is their main power source
he is just kind of there, he eventually gets rescued, and stays with someone, but he just kind of waits for a very long time for the perfect opportunity for someone to be both DEAD and have a nice power
it happens in season 2 and...
I think it's about time I finally unveiled my insane (but fun!) sounding ideas for this show to have a TF2 crossover for the second season (though they stick around for the whole show)
so, in short, mid-season 1, Omnitraxus gets addicted to gaming like a loser, gets into TF2 because it's fun (and another reason that once again, I will get into)
However, as the season 1 ending stinger, we see the Omnitraxus gets so into it that for fun he decides to merge the TF2 dimension with their dimension (I'm still not too sure on it but that's the reason for now), we don't see any more for now
Early in season 2, we get introduced to each of the mercs (and Saxton) and their new powers in each of their formal introduction episodes
And the villain of the season? Merasmus
I'll dive deeper into Merasmus in a later post, but just know that he is actually an ex-member of the magic high commission, originally created by Glossaryck to control dark magic, he instead succumbed to it, he was banished after he cursed 10 souls yet to be born to be bound together and to him by tragedy (for reasons yet to be decided), these souls would go on to be the mercenaries and Saxton hale
After being brought back, he upgrades his staff by fusing it with, guess what? The remains of the wand from the original show in the same weird space Star went to after she thought she died in the original show episode "toffee"
Speeding ahead, the final battle against him in the season involves him becoming a universe level threat, he somehow gets defeated, and this is where Ludo comes in
Ludos sees his dead body, and realizes the opportunity, he absorbs Merasmuses cortex soul, and he gains his dark magic powers, and also takes in the Bominomicon for himself, which he uses to constantly learn new spells
From then on, ludo is kind of strange character, he makes plenty of potions that are essentially steroids (have strong positives but possess severe consequences), he always feels like he's boutta become a villain, especially since he adopted his powers FROM one, though he never does
Unlike the original show, he is strongly against Toffee from the start, his original crime group has had run-ins with the guy in the past that always ended badly
He also starts up a business with his many creations, to modest success, he is an odd, but ultimately reliable figure
To end things off, fun fact, his design was partially inspired by these little fellas!
