Well I can’t say im surprised. They made like one million persona 5 spinoffs that I’d be shocked if anyone said they got into the franchise from a different source. I honestly don’t remember joker’s kit in ssb (i usually used Zelda, Marth, or Byleth; my friend used to main Kirby and she’d piss me OFF whenever she spammed B to float back up to the platform after being knocked off) but it makes sense that the kit itself is what intrigued you HAHA. Bro just aurafarms all the time

Yeah persona games are a huge investment. My p5 playthrough was like 105-112 hours iirc? I’m not sure if all my failed boss fight attempts made their way onto the save file. But I played royal, so there’s that factor too, but I’d say that’s a pretty average run of p5r. Persona THREE reload however, which im playing right now, is a bit shorter? Google says 60-80 hours. There’s all those memes about larping persona but honestly if you like time management games, turn based combat, and the jrpg style then persona is like The Beginner’s Gateway into the genre. In a good way! I’ve since gotten into games like NIER and Metaphor: ReFantazio which, btw, you should ABSOLUTELY play. It’s an atlus game too, magical historical, so many good themes and banger music and amazing storyline, I really enjoyed it, I don’t want to yap too long about it for fear of never shutting up, yes I am putting you on again. Plus all the characters are adults!

The most popular persona games are 3-5. They’ve all got their fair share of crack moments and each one has a distinct dynamic that differs slightly from the others, but they’ve all got pretty good vibes. If you like team as family, then play p3; if you like the ragtag group vibe, play p4/5. p4 has a stronger “random group of kids lowkey be getting into shenanigans” vibe than p5, which dons a “quit your day job and join my emo band” energy, so it’s really up to you! I started with p5r.

If you like psychological games more, then definitely emulate (or watch a gameplay of) P1 and P2. Personally, I think you can just read the manga for P1 since it’s really enjoyable (toudou naoya my goat 🥹🥹) and has better pacing, plus you don’t have to die inside fighting all the battles and exploring the dungeons. P2 has the STRONGEST psychological theme, and the saddest after effect, and it’s a favorite of all the veteran persona fans. Def recommend too.

All the games are good, but for further reference; P3 has a remake, P4 is getting a remake soon, p5 is the notorious king of spinoffs, so if you ever play this one, play the royal version!; and p6 was JUST ANNOUNCED TODAY!!!

I like persona because I like jrpgs. Simple as that LOL. But for a more intricate answer, I’d say it’s because in hindsight, I learn a lot about how to write themes. You don’t really notice the overarching theme that unifies each character until after you finish the game, and it’s a skill I really want to pick up on. (Also, each game has its own distinct theme!) Whether it be p5’s theme of not only retaining agency but also accepting life’s pain as it is and going with it, Sunday planarcadia style, or p3’s emerging theme of facing the horrors of raw reality, I enjoy studying the plot workings in order to figure out what makes it tick. Every game is just a big study on characterization for me since the franchise has things called social links, which are essentially companion quests. Can you tell everything serves my progress as a writer??
