Grace didn't sleep much that night. It wasn't really like a big deal, like he usually didn't sleep that much, but today felt different. The exhaustion from the past month really was getting to him. He could feel his bones tiring, he could feel his entire body starting to fall to sleep deprivation alongside the food deprivation, he had been trying to save as much food as he physically could, but now that there was another person on board, he wasn't quite sure how that would work.
He knew that this was going to be difficult. The first moment that he had brought this man into his ship, which he was going to lovingly call the man a tree, he knew that he was most likely not going to make it. It wasn't a, oh, I'm hoping he doesn't make it type of thing. No, it was a, oh, this guy has lost far too much blood, and we don't have a replacement type of thing.
Despite being surrounded by a lake of blood, he didn't think that it was particularly the best idea to just infuse more blood into him, but at the same time, with the amount of injuries this man has had, it honestly wouldn't be much different between his blood and the lake's blood at this point. He was sure the blood from the lake had seeped right into all his wounds and injuries, and there was going to be nothing that could stop him or separate them.
So, of course, Grace started thinking.
Simon woke up, and honestly, he hadn't seen a light quite as bright as he had that day, a very long time, the stars must.. oh, fuck, no, there's no stars, and shit, got that the room was bright, bright enough that his eye hurt– it must have been heaven.
Hes been told that heaven was a quite bright place, a place that honestly would hurt your eyes at first, but you'd get used to it; because in the end you had been blessed, you had been chosen, you were in the holy place. He knew that he should have been grateful for this light, but honestly– his mind just reeled back at the thought of pain. His arm hurt well– His left one hurt only what felt to be the top part of it. Other then that? His entire body hurt, he had a migraine already. He got those quite frequently when he was in prison. He was always sure that was from the lights that they kept blaring during the day, always a pain on his eyes. He had been sure they had been damaged slightly in the explosion–They never bothered to give him any medication, they couldn't afford it anyways. Who would ever spend any medication on a prisoner?
Simon could feel his eye burning, and the other one just didn't feel much. He was able to feel his arm shift just an inch left, and he was able to feel it hit into something. It felt metal, which concerned him. He moved his arm back the other way, and found that something was likely restraints once again held him in place. He was able to feel a tug of a handcuff that bound him once again in place. He felt his heart sink. Did heaven have restraints as well?
Upon seeing signs of humans on a moon, Grace decides to check out if anyone is left, and finds Simon, encased in the tree.
