Just before Elon Musk sent his Falcon Heavy Tesla and Starman to space, the #ACHIEVR Media team went to the moon for its first #VR meeting - with 10 participants, all joining remotely from different places. Our tech team was impressed with how well the server on Amazon handled the experience on our custom platform, routing all movements and voice chat and running the Unity physics scene.

We can learn by reading, listening and having experiences. The best way for most people is often a combination, but with a strong active component. ACHIEVR’s co-founders Roger Lawrence and Nigel Davidson believe in using immersive computing to improve learning and action on high-risk worksites. They know innovation starts with understanding problems that need to be solved and, whenever needed, these guys swap their head mounted units (VR, MR, AR) for personal protective equipment (PPE). The machines behind them (pre-cast moulds) are used to create the panels that support tunnels being built and maintained in Sydney. Operating them is a tough hands-on job, requiring extensive hours, with the constant risk of serious injuries to operators. Their new client (which, for now, shall-not-be-named) is looking to reduce risks to the crew by investing in immersive safety experiences, essentially putting their people first.
