âwhat do you feel when you miss someone?â the heartless romantic asks
it is not so much that I feel more so, I notice an absence the absence of your sound the absence of your silence the âfeelings,â unsolicited are less choice than chance and once I have noted absence I recall presence

I shared my first kiss with him. We donât talk at all anymore. We avoid each other as much as possible. I barely knew him and we made out. When I try to talk to him about it he either laughs it off or avoids it. Itâs just tension and silence between us now.
For our social responsibility immersion, we were tasked to head over to Asilo and help them with several tasks. After much discussion, our team was given the task of updating the brochures and advertising it over Asiloâs to be created network. I am extremely happy with the efficiency of our team since everyone cooperated and did as our group leader told us to. The first task was to create a uniform theme, which the magazine team did. We were to work with blue, gold, and white so that Asilo would have a more consistent image. Me and another group mate compiled images sent by Asilo while two others created the several brochure designs and one group mate was also put in charge of the mission vision.
The reason we went through this trouble is because the current brochure of Asilo could not be easily updated. This at first had me thinking like a contractual worker who was tasked to make a brochure. âThe job would be done when the sisters in Asilo were satisfied with the brochure,â I said to myself. The only thing I was thinking of was creating the best brochure - one that would have the sisters smiling and have potential partners stop being  potential partners and just be permanent partners - simple as thatâŚor so I thought. But after our presentation with Asilo, Maâam Dominado made us think about the long term effect on Asilo - once they had new facilities or new programs available, the brochure must be updated again and so we wanted to ensure that the next brochure would not face the same problem. We created a step-by-step manual for the staff at Asilo to follow so that the brochure could be easily updated. At least four rough drafts of the brochure were made so that Asilo could pick the design they wanted. The extra work is something that Maâam Dominado had us do to ensure the quality and longevity of our influence in Asilo.
After one of the draft brochures was approved, we proceeded with linking up with Asiloâs facebook page and website so that the brochure could be viewed online by interested parties. The task itself may seem quite mundane but it is one of the several tasks given to section K33 & K34. If you do not look for it, you may not see the influence derived from one team but if you try looking at things from a more macro perspective, you can see how everything helps Asilo de San Vicente de Paul. I am certain that what we did - not just what our team created had a lasting impact on Asilo de San Vicente de Paul.

CSR B3
Classes have been hectic lately between balancing responsibilities in academics and doing all my org work - it has been quite difficult which leads me to take the shortcuts on many things, doing tasks the fast way and not necessarily the right way. Some examples would include my HUMAART Quiz which I did not have time to study because of conflicting subjects. What I did instead was study one part which I thought would be most likely to pop out in the quiz since most of our HUMAART quizzes are essay type. I was lucky and what i studied was what came out in the quiz.
I also had org work on Wednesday which took alot of my free time - much more than I anticipated, I had to go to Divisoria to buy supplies. We left school at around 3 pm and arrived when it was nearing 7:30 pm! This was not good since I still had a project to do for NTROPSY, CPROBS case, and a CSRGOVE Case to finish before thursday. Later that night, I found out that CSRGOVE would resume next week which gave me more time to focus on CPROBS which was a major business case for our group. The following day one of our group mates is absent and since she was covering the hardest part of our case, we were simply destined to fail the report. Out paper was also in tandem. Thankfully our report was moved to tuesday! Giving us ample time to rethink our case. NTROPSY deadline was also moved since most of the groups have not made sufficient progress. So in the end the Scripture that hit me was " Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself Mt  6:34"
We haven't had CSRGOVE for the past week since Ma'am had to attend to family matters which got the whole class happy and also worried for our teacher. We finished Case 4 last week and are continuing Case 5 next week thursday. The free time given to me by the CSRGOVE cuts help out a lot in the workload of other hectic subjects especially CPROBS and most of my org work. I am thankful that everything is timed so perfectly. Just when you think that you are going to break, God finds a way - it was all just a test to see how patient you are - how far you are willing to go. The term is nearing its end and it is almost time to stress out for enlistment. I hope that we are able to make our mark for Asilo next week when we do our presentation and I hope that Asilo would be able to get the support they need to maintain their complex. CSRGOVE has been a wonderful experience and it brings me back to my roots  - Legal Management. I love cases, the better lawyer wins not the innocent client but it is exactly opposite in CSRGOVE, we look at the moral side rather than the law side of things - it is fresh and exhilarating for someone like me who loves law. I am sure that by the end of the term I will also love CSR!
Asilo de San Vicente de Paul B2
For our CSRGOVE immersion, we went to Asilo de San Vicente de Paul, one of the oldest orphanages in the Philippines. The San Vicente orphanage was a very appealing sight, the community was almost completely self sufficient. The first sight after our briefing was the girls dorm where everyone was surprised, the kitchen was very clean and the floor is so neat you could sleep on it. All the cushions and books were arranged and so I was aghasted when I found out that the girls were the ones who did all this, they already took care of themselves at their tender age. The only thing that was muddy was the potted plants. If I was to live in Vicente de Paul, I doubt that theyâd let me stay for more than a week!  The next place we visited was the home for the cancer patients which was very well maintained. We were also fortunate enough to pass by the green areas of Vicente de Paul wherein they grew all sorts of vegetables - they even have some cherry tomatoes ready for harvest. Two blocks away was a piggery with at least 20 pigs which surprised me!  They even have a small museum in the orphanage commemorating founders and donors     âIf there was a zombie apocalypse - we know where to goâ  A classmate exclaimed. I was thinking to myself however - they did not show us the boys dorm! It must be pretty messy their. We visited the boys dorm just before we left Vicente de Paul and to our surprise, it was just as clean.   There were several committees for us students to choose from, all to help the orphanage grow. Some of us made flyers, others are looking for sponsors, and a few are making a website for the orphanage. This got me thinking - what we do as immersion to pass the subject can actually impact an organization adversely. Whether or not we give effort is just a matter of grades for us but for the orphans and stakeholders in Asilo, it could significantly improve their community. CSRGOVE is more than just what you do to keep your public relations afloat but rather the impact it could have on many individuals and corporations. Very few companies take care of those under them, U S A N A Health Sciences, for example gives very heavy compensation plans and travel bonuses to its organzational members even though it is a fresh company in the Philippines, only having a corporate existence of 8 years. I am currently taking up International Studies major in Japanese minor in Business Management and Iâve tried both Liberal Arts and Business classes. Art Students are more agrumentative and like to get hands on in tasks but Business students tend to approach things from a law perspective. This was just a fact at first but after a while, it became scarily evident to me that many businessmen abandon ethics. For the sake of society we should learn to treasure our CSR!
Why CSR Â Â Â B1
CSRGOVE is the last class of the day so I often look forward to it, it marks the nearing of the end of the day where I can just relax or finish my requirements. When I first opened my notebook to write this blog, I found myself having close to no notes but why? I can remember most of the lessons and I am sure that I am attentive during class hours. Then I realized â CSRGOVE doesnât have a pressured environment which means that you can skip taking notes and just throw everything in your head. When I was studying MANAORG, our professor taught us the most efficient ways to do things depending on the situation. If employees are motivated give them promotions as incentives. If they are unmotivated and do not meet the required output, you could always force them by being the bad cop. Before I had CSRGOVE I thought that you needed to do everything under the table if you want to be a successful company. This reality was one which most of my business professors taught me and for me it was a very harsh reality. âWe should do things fairly,â I once exclaimed to one of my professors who then bombarded me with what he said were more realistic saying which went something like âHow do you play a game with no rules fairlyâŚdefine fair, if everyone is cheating then wouldnât cheating be fair?âI was taught that those who did things right would never be on top. The harsh reality hit me again â a critical strike one may say. Iâve been taught to do things according to my conscienceâs saying of what is right and wrong but I also wanted to excel in the corporate world â these two ideas began clashing repeatedly, for an innocent freshman, it was devastating.Â
I began to see how easy it was to ace a subject without studying â all you needed to do was cheat. I hated my classmates who cheated and got higher marks than me, I studied so hard only to fail while my classmates all aced the test since they got a copy of the paper. I began to compromise â cheating every so often to get high grades. In a way you could say that my morals lost to the desire to excel. It all changed during my second year of college when I had a professor who graded us very low but taught us a lot â more than two or three âsure 4.0â professors would have scratched.  I got a 1.5 for that subject but somehow I felt a sense of achievement â I learned something and I am sure I can apply it in the future. This class left me devastated but also made me value learning far more than grades. I began taking classes with the professorsâ experience in mind rather than solely their grading system. I began getting lower grades yet I learned far more than I though i would. Grades are like book covers, this is how employers will judge you but knowledge is the content of the book. Initially only you can see how much you have in store but in the long run it helps you and your organization. This is when I had a sharp realization during CSRGOVE⌠the corporate world is exactly the same, you could just cheat your way up but get caught and your carrier gets you a grade equivalent of 0.0, youâd have to start from scratch just from one scandal. Studying for an exam instead of cheating is like doing things the right way in a corporate setting. Many professors say it is near impossible and sadly, I agree cheating is much easier than doing the right thing. My pastor once told me that impossible is just a reason for someone to take the easy way. There are many companies that get by ethically such as Eastman Chem Co. and Google. And so I conclude â CSR is very hard to fulfill but it is not impossible â we only tell ourselves that.
