My friends told me it might be beneficial to document the goings on in my life through a "rotomblr account", whatever that means.
So... here goes nothing, I guess.
I'm (Assistant) Professor Marcus Acer, a rookie professor who has traveled from region to region to study all sorts of things, but my specialty lies in the strange variants of Pokémon that differ between regions and Pokémon families that have evolved to be similar to one another (AKA Regional Variants and Convergent Evolutions).
I don't care too much for battle, but my Pokémon sure do (especially my dragonair, Noodle), so just make sure to ask before challenging me to a fight, okay?
My current occupation (alongside some research into the strange Pokémon inside of Area Zero's crater) is that of a biology lecturer at Naranja-Uva Academy... if I've had you for a lecture, please feel free to ask me any questions.
Alright, I think that's everything, though I'll probably have to call someone over to review it eventually... do feel welcome to ask me anything in the meantime, though!
OOC:
✨️Hi! I'm Vee, the mod of this blog. I wanted to make a pokemon rp account since I dearly enjoy pokemon as much as I enjoy some of the other things I rp for, and rotomblr just seemed like such fun! I follow back from @viiviidlights, but I also run a few other rp blogs for other things as well. Any art I post here is also posted to my art blog, @heartslabyulzz. My other rotomblr is @game-master-val, so if you like what you see here, maybe check Val out when you get a chance as well!
✨️Since this is gonna be a pokemonirl blog, there's a blanket warning for unreality. I'm pretty open when it comes to most rp stuff, so any potential warnings that arise in relation to that will be tagged as needed.
✨️Otherwise, my main rules are just... don't be a dick, please be patient, and ask me if there's anything you aren't sure about (esp if you wanna do a long thread, because I am happy to do long-form rp threads). Pelipper Mail and Malice are both alright (and wholly encouraged), as well as magic anons. My writing stakes will be pretty low in my own posts, but I'm down for a bit of higher stakes once in a while.
✨️Hopefully I'll be able to convey a good vibe for what each of these silly pokemon are like on top of playing the role of Marcus, but as long as everyone's having fun, I plan to take things as they go! Hope you enjoy this blog!
✨️Trying to think of anything else to add, but the only other thing I can think of atm is Marcus's party, which includes Ariel the primarina, Dolenz the thwackey, Mitzy the ambipom, Glyph the runerigus, Noodle the dragonair, Grace the cetoddle, and (not pictured above) Hook the clobbopus.
✨️New Addendum: Disclaimer!!! I am not a biologist or a scientist myself in the least, so any science-related asks may not perfectly reflect real world science and/or is gonna be a lot of headcanons. But yeah if my science seems off or made up... theres a pretty good chance I took some liberties.

Ehhhhh it's a topic of debate between pokebiologists. Some people say that, functionally, the top of its body serves the same purpose as the shell of turtle-like pokemon (SPECIFICALLY the Squirtle line, who are known for their tendency to tuck into their shells to attack). Its previous form, Metang, also has a similar habit of tucking in its arms as well (though the initial stage, Beldum, lacks this ability, which is also an important trait to consider).
If a pokemon is tucking into its own shell, typically the purpose served is self-defense. In the case of Metagross and Metang, this tucking behaviour is typically when it is moving. It's theorized that by tucking in its arms, this makes the line more aerodynamic and thus faster when floating through the air (as opposed to their generally slow, clunky movements on the ground in the case of a grounded Metagross).
In my opinion, I think it'd be disingenuous to say that Metagross's body is a form of turtle shell in terms of the reason behind its leg tucking, but we can certainly acknowledge the anatomical structure of both the body and legs is indeed very much akin to that of turtle pokemon.
Tldr; yes and no - Anatomically, I suppose you could consider it as such. Functionally, though, they serve different purposes.
Hey teach, if someone made a man-made pokémon based on another one, would that count as convergent evolution?
Hm interesting question...
I doubt it would be, though, since they are a pokemon created specifically to resemble the traits of another rather than an unrelated species just developing those traits naturally.
For example, Wiglett and Diglett, while incredibly similar in all regards, are completely and utterly unrelated. The only reason they developed so similarly to one another was because those were the traits that suited their role in the environment. They serve entirely different roles in the ecosystem, but it just so happened that they both benefitted from their characteristic pill-shaped bodies (likely for the purpose of traversing through holes underground and underwater).
A pokemon like Mewtwo, however, was a man-made attempt to recreate a specimen to fulfill a role like that of the Mythical Pokémon, Mew. Those that created it went into it with the express purpose of designing something with the same traits to make it similar to the specimen it was modeled after.
I guess what im trying to say is: it would be all about coincidence versus intentionality. Convergent evolution really is just a funny coincidence that sometimes happens in nature, whereas what you're describing seems to me like it would be just another classification of artificial pokemon, such as Mewtwo or Genesect.
Sometimes ive gotta sit and wonder what major schools in other regions are like... you think theres a school out there that have to deal with that whole phenomenon of shadow pokemon or something? Or like... maybe one of the paradox universes ive seen in magazines have crazy magic on top of pokemon...

Made some "survival packages" or at least thats what im calling them. Got all the basics and then some for the students and other kids roughing it out in the wild... ive got the school putting my email on the newsletter and the bulletin so if someone needs one they can reach out.
They've got basics for hygiene and first aid, some snacks and water, and a handful of pokeballs too, just in case. Ive also got some spare camping supplies and uniforms but those are on an ask-only basis so...
Hope this will help some of the students... Arceus I worry for some of these kids... it isn't fair, y'know? So many of them have to deal with so much shit on their journeys when they should just be busy being kids...
Worried about some of these kids I'm seeing on rotomblr at the moment... it makes me worry im not doing enough on my end as a teacher but when these kids are in far off regions or not students ive had before... it's hard to reach out.
Maybe I'll put together some care packages to leave outside my door or bring to a local pokemon center in the meantime... I hope my own students know that if they need someone to turn to they can always come find me.
I had a student come in and... with them was a variant of Roggenrola I hadnt seen since I was completing my internship in a separate region.
I like trying to do basic sketches for all of the wacky and wild variants of Pokémon I encounter but... gotta be honest, im really poor at catching the likeness of my research subjects.
Anyways. For all of your viewing pleasure, id like to introduce you to a Oaxemian Roggenrola! The one I sketched here is named Amethyst, and honestly she's the perfect specimen when it comes to these guys.
The Oaxem region is known for having some crazy biodiversity and wild scenery. These guys in particular can be found in a massive crater in the region said to have been left behind by a legendary Pokémon several millennia ago!!!
They're rock/psychic types, too, which i feel like isn't a super common occurrence. The crystals on their heads emit telekinetic energy, and actually gets used in a lot of the floating technology you see nowadays! Im kinda ashamed I never originally got to study these guys up close, but I may see if this student would be willing to help me out again in the future regarding these guys.
Attempt number two at requesting a research grant from the Paldea league to let me explore the Area Zero crater because it took them several months to finally deny the first one.
Unluckily for them, I am very persistent when it comes to things in the name of my research. Let me see the forbidden weird forms, champion Geeta
Jokes aside, I did have a student mention encountering a rather peculiar looking amoonguss on their travels, which I think may be one of those strange forms. I told them if they see it again to try and get some pictures if they cant catch it outright but I dunno if that'll ever happen.
FUCJING CHATOTGPT ESSAYS AGAIN WHAT FO YOU MEANNNN!??!?
[Image ID: Marcus with his head buried in his hands, while a very concerned looking Primarina, Ariel, is poking her head over his shoulder]
Please dear Arceus if I have to grade one more of these im going to force Headmaster Clavell himself to grade these by hand or remove internet access from the entire academy I do not care how inconvenient it would be at this point.

Kid challenged me to a battle today because I have this rule where ill only accept battles if it rains without clouds...
There was a sunshower today.
Anyways I did not like this because I do not like battling but Noodle and Mitzy were both absolutely thrilled about this development. Even Dolenz was a little excited. So I figured that a 3v3 would be fine.
And it was, honestly. I haven't battled seriously in a few years and... brought me back to my gym challenge for a moment.
Maybe I'll... marginally adjust my no-battling rule for next time...
I haven't seen much from this blog but I like the more low-stakes vibe you've got going on!
This community can be pretty overwhelmingly high-stakes sometimes so it's nice to get a breather from that
✨Ough, for some reason i did NOT receive a notification for this but,,, honestly I think it helps to hear that a little esp bc I'm still figuring out the culture of this particular community and all and worry that I'm somehow getting a bad grade in Rotomblr (something that is both normal to think and possible to achieve) T^T
While I love the occasional high stakes for a lot of the characters I write, these two (Marcus and Val) are... not nearly as high stakes for rp scenarios at least so I'm grateful that the little bit from this blog (and maybe the other one but idk) are a nice little refresher <333 I wanna someday maybe set up some sillier story arcs for these guys (and maybe have more interaction between my two blogs in the future since these two characters are so closely intertwined to the point of dating) but for now it'll still probably be a lot of slice of life posts as they happen ^u^
Ive been considering shifting the focus of this blog a bit (and the same applies to @game-master-val ) to a more rp centric blog like my. Actual rp blogs bc I just worry that im probably not doing well enough at the whole pokeblogging thing
(Mainly bc I myself am not. Constantly blogging but also idrk how this community works still and I worry that the generally low stakes here just aren't as entertaining,,, )
Im kinda just musing on it for the time being but. If you see more like. Actual roleplay style posts all ill say is maybe dont be surprised? Mainly just bc thats whats more comfortable for me I think
A question for rotomblr. When you got your partners, how many of you got them from a lab as a set of three choices, from befriending a wild pokemon, or from a class with a partner pokemon included under tuition? And how many of you had troubles with your partner pokemon before making a connection? I've mentioned offhandedly, but part of my job is raising the starters you know and love so that they can be given to new trainers. Lately a new trend has been pokemon partners being assigned at private schools, and I'm wondering how many of you got yours when you started some classes, and how many of you had unorthodox partners!
Depends on which partner you wanna consider my "main" one. Ariel was a gift from my parents right before we moved out from Alola, and was given to them by a local breeder. Dolenz was a gift from professor Magnolia when my family was getting settled in the Galar region and was encouraging me to try the gym challenge.
I guess that means both of them were gifts wait-
As for troubles, though, surprisingly I never had too many issues with either of them! At least not until some of my later team members came along, but they learned to adapt.

A student of mine is big into fire types (like... her entire team is made up of them) so she always gets super excited when that happens to be the topic of discussion. She literally will never give up an opportunity to show off or talk about her Pokémon when given the chance.
Now that I've given the background... today we were showing off some newer captures that students have acquired in the middle of their treasure hunts.
So this kid came in today with a "new, super powerful fire fish pokemon". Which didn't immediately send off any alarm bells, until I saw Raifort's face completely drop.
Dear readers. It was Chi-Yu. One of the four Pokémon of ruin. How the fuck she acquired it is completely beyond us, but it seems to like her company and dear Arceus do we hope it stays that way.
