Painting is 100% original, one of the defining pieces of this style. Highly desirable. Try to find another one, they have all been purchased up and collected. This piece will continue to rise in value to years to come.
From Wixarkia: José Benítez Sánchez, known in the Huichol language as Yucauye Cucame, or “Silent Walker” was born in 1938 on a ranch called San Pablito, in Nayarit. His religious tradition and family ties link him to the Huichol sub-group of Wautüa (the community of San Sebastián Teponohuaztlán).
José Benítez came to be recognized as an undisputed master of original dramatic compositions, and his knowledge of the culture was respected by scores of other specialists in this medium by 1971. He remains unsurpassed in the fertility and inventiveness of his art over the long span of his still-evolving career. (José Benítez Sánchez died since the writing of this in 2009)
