It is very important to me that Adrian absolutely loves Grace. They get to Erid and Rocky is so nervous about them liking each other but he never should have worried because the two just… click.

And now Rocky and Adrian equally love Grace. They always argue over who gets to bring him to their work (Adrian likes to have him for feedback for the bio-dome and Rocky likes to have someone to talk to while he tinkers). They both watch over him when he sleeps and Grace wakes up to two Eridians very, very close to his face.

They’re the couple with the third wheeling friend, except they are all equally happy about the arrangement. Rocky and Adrian go on a date, just the two of them, one time and get asked by no less than six people if Grace is okay.

Just Rocky and Adrian being soulmates and Grace being their platonic soulmate.

honestly one of my favorite things about fanfic is when you can see the canon influences come out in really subtle ways. like a canon line thats mentioned once as a throwaway is suddenly the entire premise for a fic or it influences the characterization or something. its just so cool to see how people weave their ideas around a source material, especially if its not a detail i'd thought about before

To be honest, I don't think I've ever really thought about this before?

Xavier: His lack of cooking skills. Growing up my dad always cooked my mom and I dinner. To this day he still drops everything to make me food if I ask him. I need me a man that can cook and cook good for that matter. So I fear the lack of cooking skills is a little bit of an ick for me, sorry bun.

Zayne: His lack of communication This one is because I fear I am the exact same. I hate this trait about myself, that my biggest fear is communication and that I struggle with it. So I really do rely on a partner that is a little more extroverted and/or outgoing that fills in the gaps? I mean, once I'm comfy you can't get me to stfu, or leave you alone for that matter. But in the beginning, much like Zayne, your really need to pry to get stuff / words out of me.

Rafayel: His attitude / lack of care Even if it's a front or a defense sometimes to protect his own feelings, it low key gets under my skin because I am the type to get really hurt by those things. So if he pulled some of the shit he pulls with MC on me? Yeah I'm shutting down, ghosting him, ignoring him, we can both be petty as hell because clearly you're not in the mood for me </3

Sylus: His lack of concern In the beginning at least, I feel he has changed very drastically since the first time we met him. But even in the main story, he sometimes doesn't show as much concern as I'd like him too. I know that's been super picky, he's my main, tbh he could spit on me and I'd thank him.

My elderly father started talking about how frustrating he finds “the pronouns thing” and I was like. Oh no. He had such a good stand on this, he’s been they/them-ing his cishet siblings for god’s sake! Is he regressing?? And he was talking about how difficult it is to remember, and how onerous it feels to expect strangers to keep track of it, and I’m like oh no oh no.

Then he says, “I mean, the problem isn’t the gender thing. The problem is four words: she, her, he, and him. We got rid of stewardess and turned it into flight attendant. It doesn’t matter if the flight attendant is a man or woman, so we got rid of it. We just need to get rid of those. I don’t need to know.”

“You don’t need to know… people’s gender?”

“No. I don’t care, I don’t need to know, and I don’t want to remember it.”

So we can relax. It’s just a continuation of his crusade to they/them the world. He doesn’t want to remember anyone’s gender. He’s abolishing the genders.

Imagine Grace and Rocky do go to Earth, just for a visit. You have Earth cheering for their heroes, the one person to survive the Hail Mary mission, and the first formal introduction of the Eridians to the planet as a whole. Carl and Stratt are there, overcome with emotion. Hugging Grace, finally allowed to care for him since they no longer have to send him on a suicide mission. A lot of complicated feelings and grief. Then as they are making casual talk to the side, Grace has to deal with the horror that is regular human communication with all of its phrases and double entendres coming from an alien.

Rocky: Grace and Rocky sleep together. Grace: No, that's not what happened. Rocky: Yes it did. Grace: Well, I mean- Rocky: Grace fist my bump. Grace: ROCKY! Rocky: But Grace said Rocky and Grace clock bros.

Carl and Stratt are just watching the whole exchange in bewilderment. Stratt is trying to figure out how on earth that happened what with Rocky being literally hotter than boiling water.
