- 2 Months Later - (June 18th, 2015)
Skylar had been ignoring my ass for 2 months straight. Every time I tried to call her, her phone would go straight to voicemail. Even when I would text her, I would get no reply or some fake bullshit about me having the wrong number. I can’t believe she was doing me like this. Yeah, ok, I fucked up, but I needed to know what was going on with her, since she is carrying my child.
“This shit is getting old.” I mumbled, grabbing my phone and going to my contacts. I tapped on Skylar’s name and watched as my phone dialed her number. I blew air out of my mouth as I began pacing to slowly pace back and forth. “Come on, answer for me baby, answer please.” After 10 more seconds of waiting, someone finally answered the phone. I stood still as I let out a shocked gasp.
“Hello? Baby? Sky, you there?” I inquired.
“Um…who is this?” the voice spoke.
“Baby, don’t play with me, you know who this is.” I spoke.
“Wait? Jesse? Did you get a new number, babe?” the lady asked. I mushed my eyebrows in confusion as I mumbled “What the fuck?” to myself.
“No, no. I’m not Jesse. How long have you had this new number?” I asked, pulling my sneakers on.
“Um…for about 2 weeks. Why? Are you stalking me or something?” the woman asked. I immediately hung up my phone and deleted the number. I chuckled bitterly as I grabbed my keys and rushed out of the hotel room. I went down to the parking lot and got in my car. I started up the car and quickly backed out before taking off down the street.
How fucking could she? She had the fucking audacity to change her damn number on me! Why the fuck would she do that when she knows I want to check up on her and my child?! See, this is the shit that causes me to flip out on her ass. The entire drive to Skylar’s house, my body was shaking, my heart was racing and my mind was completely jumbled. I didn’t know what I was going to do when I seen Skylar; smack her, yell at her, apologize, or maybe even just leave her alone.
Pulling into the drive-way, I parked my car behind Skylar’s and got out. I paced to the front door and knocked on it loudly. I took my left hand and covered up the peephole so she wouldn’t see who it was.
“Who is it?” Skylar asked from the other side of the door. I kept quiet as I decided not to answer. I heard her let out a loud sigh and then the locks click. I removed my hand from in front of the peephole and waited for her to open the door. Once she finally did, she looked up at me and her smile faded. My eyes fell upon her small baby bump, causing me to smile.
“Wow.” I chuckled. “You’re so small.”
“You know what, get off my property.” Skylar spoke as she began to close the door. I rushed forward and pushed on the door, causing her to grunt. Shit, I ain’t know that Sky was this damn strong. As the both of us struggled, I took all my might and pushed on the door hard, causing it to burst open.
“Dammit!” Skylar yelled, stumbling back. “Why are you here?!” I slammed the door shut behind me as I began walking up closer to her. She backed away from me as she kept her eyes on me. I balled my fists up and and began thinking of all the shit she put me through to find her ass.
I stared back at Isaias and watched as his fists became balled. I wasn’t expecting Isaias to show up at my house, so I was uncomfortably still in my night shirt. Well, it was one of his shirts, but now it’s mines. He shouldn’t have left it here, finders keepers. Anyways, something unusual began to happen. Isaias’ chest slowed down as his fists loosened. His face softened and he looked down at the ground and shook his head.
“Why would you change your number on me, Skylar?” he questioned. I scoffed loudly as I place a hand on my hip.
“Are you serious?” I asked? “You called me almost 3 times a day ever since we broke and I kicked you out. You were practically stalking me! I should’ve got a restraining order on you.” Isaias kissed his teeth and rolled his eyes.
“A restraining order? What the fuck have I ever done to you? All I wanted to do was check up on you and my child that you’re carrying.”
“Oh, is that why you’re here too? Well, we’re fine, so you can leave.” I spoke, pointing to the door.
“Nope,” he said, walking around me and sitting on the couch. “I’m not leaving until we sit down and talk about this.”
“Talk about what?! There is nothing to talk about! You cheated on me, got me pregnant, and I kicked your ass out. The end.”
“You know what, Skylar, you’re making everything so complicated. Just please sit down and talk to me? Please, all I wanna do is talk.” Isaias insisted. I said and shook my head as I stood in front of him.
“Ok, look, we can talk, but that’s it. Ain’t no moving back in yet, I wanna make love to you type of shit, none of that.” I said. I was dead serious. Isaias put his hands up in self defense.
“I promise, none of that.” he stated, holding his hands up in self defense. I nodded my head as I watched his eyes roam down to my thighs. “Just go on and put some clothes on. Walking around naked and shit. You don’t even have no panties on.”
“Shut up!” I yelled, walking upstairs and into my bedroom. I changed into a short sundress and came back downstairs. “Happy?”
“Yeah, but you still ain’t got no panties on.” he snickered. I rolled my eyes at his childishness and sat down beside him.
“Aight, look Sky, I’m sorry for cheating on you. It was wrong, disrespectful, and fucked up. I know that we will probably never get back together, but I just want to be there for my child.” he spoke before placing his hand on my stomach. I tensed up a bit and cleared my throat. “Yeah, my son.”
“Um, excuse you? This is our baby girl. You just see when I go to my next appointment.”
“And when is that?” Isaias asked, pulling out his phone.
“Today at 5. Why?” I questioned. Isaias stared at his phone then looked over at me.
“It’s 12 now, you got a lil bit more time to chill.” he said. Um, who the fuck was he?
“Now, we need to talk about me staying here with you, because I know you don’t like getting up and going out at night by yourself. Am I sleeping in your bed or a guest bedroom?” he inquired, staring at me.
“I gotta answer the door.” I smiled, getting up and walking to the front door. I peeked out the peephole to see a young man standing in front of the door. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses, so I couldn’t really tell what he really looked like. I sighed as I unlocked the door and opened it. He flashed me a small smile as he looked at me.
“Hello. Can I help you?” I asked.
“Um,” he started off, pulling out his phone. “I’m here to see Isaias.” I nodded my head as I looked over my shoulder and called for him.
“Isaias! There’s someone here for you.” I said.
“Who is it?” he asked, eyes still glued to the phone of the screen. I rolled my eyes at him and turned around to the guy.
“What’s your name, sweetheart?” I asked.
“Eijah. But, just call me Eli.” he said. I nodded and turned back around.
“He said his name is Elijah.” I said. Isaias’ head shot up and looked at me. He tossed his phone to the side and walked over to the door.
“Watch out.” he said, pushing me to the side a bit. I walked away from the door and went and sat down. What was that about?
Isaias came to the door and stood in front of me. I looked back at him silently and cleared my throat.
“Elijah?” he questioned, looking me up and down. I nodded my head and let out a short chuckle.
“Yeah, it’s uh…it’s me.” I replied. Isaias immediately lunged forward and pulled me into a tight hug. It was so tight that I could barely breathe, but still, it felt good to have a hug from him.
“I’m so glad to see you, man.” he said, patting me on my back.
“You too, man. I missed you.” I spoke. Isaias pulled away from the hug and rubbed his eyes. Was his ass crying?
“So, uh, what brings you by here?” he asked. I looked down at the ground, glancing at my 3 suitcases and rubbed the back of my neck.
“I…I kind of need a place to stay for awhile. I can even give you some money if I need to if you want. Just please, I need somewhere to stay.” I begged.
“You can stay here, ain’t no need to pay. Come on in, man.” he said, grabbing two of my suitcases and bringing them inside. “Oh, Sky, this is my little brother, Elijah, Elijah, this is my baby mama, Skylar.”
“Baby mama? Really?” she asked, mugging him. I chuckled lightly as I pulled my last suitcase inside and closed the door behind me.
“Anyways, it’s nice to meet you.” she said, wrapping her arms around me and hugged me. I didn’t expect her to be this open, but I’m glad she is. Glad to know that I’m welcomed here. Skylar pulled away from the hug and smiled at me. I looked at my surroundings and nodded.
“Nice place.” I commented.
“Why, thank you. I picked it out myself.” she blushed.
“Excuse you, but I think I payed a half of $50,000 on this house, as well as you.” Isaias said, coming downstairs. Wait, when did he even go up there? I shook my head as I watched Skylar’s expression change.
“But I kicked you out, therefore it’s my house now. Thank you.”
“Kicked out? What did you do?” I asked Isaias.
“Look, I’ll tell you about that later, but now I have to move back in. My little brother is here and I need to guide him in the right track. You know, I need to take him under my wing. Ain’t that right, Elijah?”
“Don’t put me in this.” I laughed, stepping back.
“You know what, fine, you can come back, but not for long. After Elijah gets comfortable here and gets a key, your ass is gonna get kick-”
“So, Elijah, Skylar will show you your room while I go out and get you your keys made. When I come back, we can hang out, talk or whatever. We gotta catch up with each other. Oh, and if you want something to eat, don’t be shy to ask Skylar because she’ll get up and cook it for you.” he explained.
“Um…you’re the one that graduated and became a chef. Why do I have to cook?” she asked, shrugging her shoulder.
“Because you’re a woman and that’s what women do. Now, bye bye.” he laughed, going out the door. I looked over at Skylar and shook my head.
“I don’t see how you can stand to be related to him.”she said. I shrugged my shoulders as I grabbed my suitcase again and began following Skylar upstairs. Once we made it upstairs, Skylar looked down both hallways then turned left. She opened the door to a room and smiled.
“Ok, he put your luggage in here.” She said, waving me in. I stepped inside and looked around the room. Damn. This how they living. Isaias had to had hit the lottery or something, because from our background, we didn’t have shi-
“This alright for you?” Sky asked, interrupting me from my thoughts. I slowly nodded my head as I sat down on the bed and ran my hands over the sheets.
“It’s perfect.” I spoke lowly. I guess Skylar nodded because she nodded her head and began making her way towards the door.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you. The bathroom is through this door, your closet is through that one, and if you need anything, I’ll be in the bedroom down the hall.” she explained. “Anything else?”
“Nah, I’m just gonna take a shower and get some rest.” I replied. Skylar nodded her head and closed the door before walking out. I stood up on my feet and stripped out of my clothes. I pulled a large bag out of my suitcase and placed my belongings inside. I removed my glasses from my face and walked into the bathroom. I glanced at my eye in the mirror and sighed.
“Thanks a lot, mum.” I mumbled, looking at my black eye. I shook my head as I started the shower and waited for it to warm up. I can’t believe mum put her hands on me like that. If I hadn’t ran away, she’d probably would’ve hurt me worse than this. It’s sad that this continues on, even though I’m grown. I’m gonna have to get some more money so I won’t end up running back to her. I can’t take that shit anymore.
