Absolute Freedom

I've been sitting on this one for about a month because tomorrow the 11th of July is International Skinny Dip Day (annually - 2nd Saturday of July). Established in 2018 by the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), it aims to celebrate body positivity, naturism, and outdoor recreation, while often raising funds for charities. So get out, get nude, and enjoy the water like you're a kid who doesn't care. As for the song, my family had an above-ground pool growing up, and so the suits just had to be grabable in case the parents came out. I recall my brother prompting the skinny dipping on several occasions, and if I was out there alone, I would always go for that option. Swimming in sunshowers was always the best; there is a certain look to a bright blue summer sky with raindrops flashing through the sunlight. Sunshowers are a favorite occurrence of mine.

In January, I wrote a song about my mother, trying to push towards a more positive view of all she gave me in her life. It's still sad, but it's much more positive than the first one I wrote earlier in 2025: "When Your World Stops".

It's just a quick clip, but I do like to share the beauty of this beach and sunrise with everyone who doesn't have the time or just can't get out there to see it. I think the world would be better if we all spent more time watching the sunrise and the stars shine. It puts our very tiny existance into perspective in an instant.

I'm particularly proud of this one. I've been writing and editing this one since 2023. I really wanted to use my own voice for this, but between my voice and this amazing Suno voice, there was just no contest.

I used this photo a couple of years ago for WNGD, but it came out so well and is 100% my image from my front yard of my Mimosa strigillosa flowers. I took other flower photos from around my yard and added them in, then I climbed a wooden pillar while the self-timer was going, and added myself into the photo climbing the flower stem. The image ended up taking a lot of time, but it came out beautifully. It perfectly represents my idea of gardening, which is to foster a natural and diverse environment.

So I was getting back into the People of the Wolf novel and the subsequent and ongoing series, and I wanted to make a song to honor the first novel. This is Not that song, but it did come about during the process. Now-a-days I pretty much write every lyric before I sit down and start deciding on genre, tone, instrumentation, etc...On rare occasions, I revert back to my starting days when I just asked Suno to make a song about a subject and see what happens. This is one of those. After this way-too-country-for-my-tastes Suno effort, then I sat down and put in the time to write a proper tribute song, which I published on March 27, 2026, Dance The Dream Of The One - https://youtu.be/IMRPFXO9T_A. Although this is not my style, I did think it was decent enough that someone might enjoy it.
