One thing Iāve been learning recently on my journey is not to feel so bad when buying clothing from brands that arenāt the most āsustainable.ā Sustainability is a big buzz word, but to me it doesnāt always have to mean that an item of clothing is made with as little water as possible or as much recycled material as possible. To me, sustainability in fashion means buying clothing and really WEARING it. Not just wearing it one time for the gram, but if youāre buying clothing make sure youāre wearing them out and then eventually revamping or restyling them when you think theyāve been over worn. There are so many ways to revamp clothing instead of constantly buying new items. Recently thereās been a lot of popularity with tie dying/bleach dying clothes and all you need is an old T-shirt and sweats. Iāve also used old leggings to make biker shorts and thrifted new tops and cropped them to look more stylish. The possibilities in living a more āsustainableā lifestyle are endless and sometimes all you need are some old clothes and a pair of scissors. Although supporting sustainable brands is amazing, as a college student I understand the struggle in affording new clothes. Just make sure youāre being mindful in your purchases and remember that basic items such as white t-shirts never go out of style! Less is more and living a minimalistic lifestyle isnāt always as difficult as it may seem. Time to get creative :)
