Aiden!
Oh, right, of course. How could I have forgotten.Â
How cranky do you think she would be if I woke her up right now?Â
Maybe not too cranky. She's been asleep for a while.Â
I don't know how she sleeps like this all the time. She's a baby! What's she been doing? Having a long day at work? Sneaking out once we're asleep to go to the club?Â
Madison?
November? Holy⌠Times flies so fast.
What if I bite? Hah⌠But, um, no. You hold her⌠You know, you gave birth to her and stuff so⌠Do you want to come insider? But I donât know how good would that be for the baby, because of the smoke.
Okay! Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, the smoke... um, what if we go for a walk outside? It's really nice out, and I've been a shut in lately. I think the flowers are blooming!
Aiden!
I hadnât even thought about that. Just dad, maybe? Definitely not papi. What do you want her to call you?
I thought it was obvious. Momma Swag Yolo Cash Money.Â

Madison?
Oh, it is a girl⌠When-when did you give birth to her? Wasnât it like couple of months ago you found out you were pregnant?! [Still in shock she didnât hug her back and froze with her question] Come again?
We found out in November, but I was already about two months along by then. Her birthday is May 9.Â
Do you want to hold her? She won't bite, I promise.Â
Madison?
[Madison groaned when someone knocked on her door, she first thought it was probably one of those annoying nurses walking around checking on the patients but luckily, it was a familiar voice. She quickly got up from her bed and opened the door, but what was more surprising than people visiting her was what Abigale was holding in her arms, a baby. Abigaleâs baby, Madison wasnât aware even she had already gave birth to it, him, or her. Hell, thinking about she never really asked about the pregnancy in general, making her somehow feeling guilty about that.]Â Oh my god, wha- what- what is that?
This is Carolyn Cosette Miller, we named her after my mom and Aiden's grandma. Isn't she so tiny? [Abi laughed, reaching out with one arm to hug Madison.] Do you want to hold her?Â
Madison?
[With Carolyn cradled in her arms, Abi carefully makes her way down to the third floor to the room marked 01. She knocked quietly on the door.]Â Madi? I have someone here who would like to meet you!
Aiden!
I donât know. I wouldnât want to wake her. If you say itâs fine, Iâm sure it is. I just want to make sure everythingâs perfect and not fuck up on something so simple.
I hope soâhold up, are you calling me a baby?
No, you just make the same little faces.Â
What are you gonna want her to call you? Like... daddy, or dad, or papĂ...
Aiden!
Hold on just a second, Abi. Iâm reading the thing the nurses gave us⌠Did we remember to swaddle her correctly?
I think we did, should we fix it again?Â
She looks just like you when you sleep. Do you think she'll snore like you when she's older?Â

Aiden!
Come here, but you have to be quiet. You have to see this.
She just fell asleep, look how pretty she is! We need more pictures of her.Â
"When I was little I used to dance and model and that was fun. But I was always the person that was goofing off and I would memorize every line in every movie that I saw. And at recess thatâs what I would do, I would talk to my friends and recite movies."
Where Dat Baby At? || Marshmill
"If she doesnât like turtles," He began, clutching the soft baby blanket to his chest and laying the dramatics on thick, "I think my heart would break." He folded up the blanket gently and threw it over his shoulder. He may have been joking about many things that night, but buying the turtle blanket was not one of them. "Rootbeerâs little heart would break too, I know that much." Aiden reached forward and pinched at Abigaleâs side lightly at her jab. "Donât you dare tell me how to raise my child! God as my witness, I will make a scene in the middle of this store!â Â
Carolyn. Carolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn⌠The more he thought about the name, the more he liked it. What he liked even more though, was that it was Abigaleâs motherâs name. It wasnât very often that Abigale spoke about her mother, which made this moment even sweeter. âCarolynâs good. Very good.â While he truly did like the name Carolyn, and the prospect of naming their daughter after Abigaleâs mother, there was still a part of him that wanted to name her after his grandmother.Â
"Hey," he reached out to grab Abigale as she walked to stop her and turn her around to face him, "What about Carolyn Cosette? Carolyn for the first name, and Cosette for the middle?" He was no longer joking. The stillness of his face and the focus of his eyes conveying how seriously he was taking this issue of names. "What do you think?"
"I guess that if she's not a turtle lover, we'll have to just try for another one." A joking smirk crept on her face, her swollen hands still resting on her baby bump. "Please don't throw a tantrum right now. You know I respect your maternal decisions for Rootbeer."Â In the first few months of the pregnancy, she had hoped that she wouldn't get so big, for fear of accidentally knocking things over or bumping into people every time she turned around. As time had gone by, she thought she had gotten more used to it, but she was proven wrong as she was jerked around to face Aiden. A pile of cloth diapers in all different colors fell to the floor as Abi's bump knocked them over, and she couldn't help but laugh.Â
Carolyn Cosette. It was perfect, and she could tell by the look in Aiden's eyes that he loved it. It was beautiful and original, and much better than Aiden Aiden Miller Junior. "I love it. It's perfect." She laughed, placing her palms on either side of his face to bring him down for a quick kiss. "I love it, and I love you, and I love her already."Â
As she took her hands off his face, she looked down at diapers sprawled all across the floor. Abigale groaned as she struggled to bend down and pick them up. "Now, onto the real issue here, what do you think about cloth diapers, and do you think they make them small enough to fit Rootbeer?"Â

"Then we can get her blue frillies, or green frillies, or yellow, or red, or whateverâŚ" Aiden trailed off as he paused in front of a display of tiny dresses, each of them made of a fabric with a pattern of bright orange and yellow kittens. Aiden frowned and continued on his way. His daughter could wear whatever she wanted, but he would never, in his right mind, dress her in something like that. He turned from the display and quickly caught up with Abigale who was almost halfway across the store and still spewing questions. It was amazing how fast she could move in her condition.
"Nursery?" He furrowed his brow, "Do you mean the small corner of our room where we put the baby bed?" His sarcasm was laid thick, as he was still quite bitter over the fact that they had to leave their beautiful house behind in Georgia. Aiden looked at the baby blankets in various patterns and colors, none of them piquing his interest in the least until he came across a pale green one with tiny turtles in the corners. "This one. This is it!" He grabbed it from the display and held it up for Abigale to see. "We can either use this one for the baby or Iâm buying it for Rootbeer. Either way, Iâm not leaving the store without it."
Aiden slung the blanket over his shoulder. âYou know me⌠I liked Cosette Aiden Miller Junior. Or Aiden Aiden Miller the Second. Either one of those is fine by me. Why? Did you think of one you like?â
"Yes, I mean her small corner. But nursery just sounds so much nicer, babe!" Abi giggled and looked at the turtle blanket, taking the kicks the baby was making as a sign that she liked it, too. "If our baby doesn't like turtles, what are you going to do?" She reached out to feel the blanket, making sure it was soft enough for her daughter, before moving along. "I don't think Rootbeer needs a baby blanket, but he is your son, so Lord knows he's spoiled."Â
Making her way through the store, trying to think of what on earth their daughter would need, she set her hands on her stomach. "I like Cosette. I think for our daughter, we should refrain from Aiden Junior. Maybe if we have a son." The back of the store was full of furniture, from rocking chairs to bassinets to car seats and things of the like. She made her way over to one of the rocking chairs and sat down, staring up at him.Â
"What do you think of the name Carolyn?"Â The more she thought about naming the baby after her mother, the more she liked it. Hopefully Aiden would like it, too.Â

What did he think? Well, for one thing he wished the store had a push cart to place various boxes, bags, trinkets, and outfits in so he wouldnât have to balance them in his arms. Beyond that minor irritations though, he was thrilled. The Aiden he knew two years ago would never have thought he would feel the tiniest bit excited to go shopping for baby things, let alone baby girl things.Â
âI think that youâre over-thinking this,â he laughed and passed on the items in his arms to a saleswoman who offered to hold them at the register. âI donât know about any of this stuff. What do little girls like? Pink stuff? Frillies?â He looked around, taking hints from what he saw around them. ââŚPastel baby animals?â Heâd read all the books he bought and done the research. He knew how to handle diaper rashes and five techniques for getting a baby to sleep, but when it came to what the baby should wear, he was clueless. âWe donât even have a name for her yet. How are we supposed to pick a wardrobe?â
"I just want her to be here already." Aiden grabbed a childâs size panda hat from a nearby rack and stretched it over his head. They had been shopping for such a while that heâd ost track of what they were looking for altogether. Still, he followed his wobbly wife through the store staying close behind. "Letâs get her a top hat and monocle like the monopoly man."
Kick, kick, kick! Abi set her hands on her stomach, letting out a sigh as she listened to Aiden. "What if she doesn't like pink frillies though!" Her lips curled up into a smile as she fidgeted with different outfits of all colors and styles. Fighting bouts of morning sickness as she walked around, her mind wandered to what she wanted for their baby girls future. What if she was a ballerina, or a lacrosse player, or one of those people who dressed up like horses to go to My Little Pony conventions? Out of all the things that their little girl could be, Abi knew that she would love her no matter what. She glanced over to Aiden, who looked completely ridiculous with a panda hat on top of his head, and smiled.
"Let's save the monopoly outfit for halloween." Lighthearted giggles erupted from her lips, tugging down on the panda hat to cover his eyes. "Oooh!" She squeaked, waddling carefully over to a section full of blankets and bedding and things of the like. "Do you like any of these? What kind of little nursery should she have?"Â
Now that she had thought about it, the baby would need a name. Due in only a week or two, and they were still unsure of what to name her. She sighed and slid her hand into his. "What do you think we should name her? We talked about a lot of different ones, but did you have a favorite?"
You Pick the Title, Brat || Marshmill
Sore, heel-clad feet padded along the hardwood floor, creaking beneath her as she walked. Her swollen fingers ran along rows and rows of soft onesies and dresses, feeling everything to make sure that it would be good enough for her baby girl. There were adorable outfits everywhere, in every color, and every pattern imaginable. Abi could remember being a little girl and planning exactly how she was going to dress her daughter, but now that the time had come, it was so much different than she had ever expected.Â
She looked back at Aiden, who was carrying things that she had placed in his arms already, and smiled. "What do you think? What colors do you think will look pretty on her?" She inquired, now rummaging through shelves filled with pink, yellow, blue and green. "What do you think she'll look pretty in?" The question was silly. She knew that their daughter would look pretty in absolutely anything they put her in.Â
"I never expected this to be so hard! What do you like for our baby?" Abi took a deep breath and turned away from the seemingly endless shelves behind her, focusing her attention on Aiden. "Do you have any preferences?"Â
