Issues in mass communication
Social Media control and Media ethics and laws

1. Social Media control, is there a need? If yes, how. If no, explain.
Yes .
The country is supposed to monitor the means of social communication, where the means of social communication in which a lot of rumors that negatively affect the system of the country and citizens . It also some groups supported by hostile countries are supporting those groups to spread the temptation to overthrow the country system and take its resources.
Example: The media war carried out by the UAE towards Qatar and vice versa where some people are supported and adapted to stir up sedition and destabilize security and stability.
2. Media laws and ethics - do we have enough, too much or too little of it. Discuss
In the Sultanate of Oman, there are many laws to monitor the media, whether traditional media or modern media. There is the Omani Publications and Publication Law issued by the Sultanas Decree in 1994
Also included a special section in the prosecution of Oman and called the section of crimes of information technology . This section aims to follow up and address the electronic crime in the sites of social communication.
For example, in 2016, one of the people committed a mistake on a social networking site. I did not know. I informed the Electronic Crimes Department and the punishment was committed.
3. Bring together the result of 1 & 2 on understanding.
We observe that the existence of media censorship laws has reduced many cybercrime, such as extortion, cybercrime and intellectual theft.
4. Understanding
The laws in all forms always get the positive things, when we enact some laws in a society in which there are many electronic crimes, these laws will deal with these crimes in large part where sometimes we will completely eliminate those crimes from society, so the society becomes an educated society and aware of the things that are not allowed to do.
Media Representations For Social Classes

entertainment :
The upper class is always in serials and movies are the class that has the power to make decisions. The middle and lowest class are always marginalized and always receive orders. The lower classes are also referred to as layers that create problems such as drug trafficking and theft.
For example, the rich and poor Egyptian film, which revolves around the fact that the rich man was born, loved a poor girl who was studying with him at the university and told his family that he wanted to marry her, but his family rejected it because of poverty and events.
Advertising :
The ads are produced using characters that are rich in character, as the media say that anyone can buy high-end and expensive items, only upper class.
Example: Like the ads for make-up (advertising Kareena Kapoor) we always notice the characters that make these ads are media figures in their rich origin before being famous.
The targeted ads are produced for the medium and lower levels by highlighting the benefits of the product as a cheap price, strong and lasting for a long period.
The media :
The media always highlight the upper classes, and their news are important to all, while the lower classes marginalize and do not look at it. I think the media, when they show some of the top figures, are trying to win this man's satisfaction to gain some interest from him.
For example, the media annually publish lists of the world's richest men or more influential people but do not publish much about famine in Africa.
The impact on their personal and professional lives:
This difference between the classes affects a lot of things, the society will become unassuming, and the upper classes will be mighty, not merciful, and look at the lower classes in a worthy way, and they will understand nothing and will not pray, but we will give it comfort, wealth and control.
The lower and middle classes will always be afraid of facing decision makers and upper classes and will be entrenched in their minds that interviewing higher classes is impossible.
Understanding:
The representation of the media and the differentiation between the upper, middle and lower classes will negatively affect the strategy of individuals working in the government and private sectors Vtbali will be short work because of the pressures suffered by the upper classes and eventually we will delay in keeping pace with progress in the world and we will be backward countries .

Citizen and self-censorship
Name: Ahmed alghassani
ID: 113466
Date: April 1, 2019
1- citizens do not need to know everything?
yes. Citizens have the right to know and their countries must:
* To provide a good education with quality and I mean good education is that education which is if applied by the citizen will bring a benefit for the country.
* The country must provide the citizens with all information on general issues, political and economic issues and all issues that related to the citizen with a homeland. Also, the country must consolidate all its power in the delivery of information to citizens through various media and official websites, because the citizens has the right to know those In order to understand the circumstances in which his State is undergoing.
For example, the Omani Shoura Council hosted the Minister of Education in solidarity with the case of embezzlement. This indicates the Shura Council's keenness to communicate the real information to the citizen.
2. self-censorship is good for media development & responsible media?
Yes .
The media is responsible and when the writer write he aware of of his country and the citizen . He should consider the homeland as the house where the citizens live. Without the citizen there is no country, the media must be careful to ensure that the writing is clear and useful to the parties and have self-censorship
If the media is honest and transfer issues of citizens to the country and initiated the solution of those problems will be the strongest media and will gain the confidence of the citizen and consequently will develop the media to serve the citizen and the country.
For example, some scenes are cut in the movies that shown in the cinema because they do not conform to the customs and traditions of Omani society.
Nowadays we have something called citizen press .That press does not fall under any media organization. This is a citizen who publishes news or comments on specific issues and here there must be self-censorship by the press community, which publishes these news. So, the news published by it in line with the policy of the country and be harmless to the public good
3 - linking the two topics with some:
Citizens should be aware of what is going on in the country
but within reasonableness.
That is, some things are better to be hidden until they are fixed.
Such as those affecting country security.
For example,
the Egyptian authorities blocked a number of Egyptian and Qatari websites to include content that "supports terrorism and extremism and deliberately propagates lies," according to the official MENA
