Flowery x Reader - Comfort after Work (Headcanons)
Pain and agony just don't pair up well with your person, in Flowery's opinion. He's so good at picking up on the smallest signals known to man (or flower) so he notices immediately: how tense you are the whole time you're visiting him, the way you grimace at the littlest movements, the fact you've been slowing down lately…and he greatly worries for you, asking for an explanation of whatever you might've been going through during your days spent in the Light World.
He's especially distraught if you even end up skipping some of your visits; he can take care of himself and go a couple days without seeing you or even more, of course! As much as he loves and cares about you he understands you might need space and rest, but seeing you in such a state and then having you not show up is worrying, especially since he can't do much to check on you or make sure you're okay in the Light World.
When you come back and open up about how much of a hassle work has been for you lately, he listens to you carefully, letting you lean against him for comfort and extra support if you need. You tell him about whatever the problem might be - your asshole coworkers or boss leaving all the hard work to you, you having to lift things that are too heavy for what your body is used to, the never-ending hours spent standing up and doing things without the possibility to sit down…whatever it is that's gotten you so tired and aching lately, Flowery lets you rant, tracing gentle circles all over your back.
When you're done with your explanation, he's immediately set on helping you relieve some of that pain: forget walking, he can carry you no problem, especially if you're feeling this bad! He doesn't do it suddenly, his hold is actually very careful and being in his arms is so comfortable…
He wants you to be as comfortable as you can be first, so you're off to your room to try and find clothes that are soft and cozy! He's been helping you dress up when you were struggling already, but right now he wants to fully treat you like the prince/princess you are and do as much as he can: he holds up the different options you have, then has you sitting down on your bed to change as he sits besides you just in case you need help with changing in or out of anything - is it embarrassing when he holds out your shirt's sleeve so you have better access to it as you put it on…unprompted? Yes, a little…! But he genuinely looks satisfied with himself as he plants a kiss on your temple afterwards, so you don't mention it.
Then, he convinces you to sit comfortably and let him handle your skincare! …Well, his skincare! Flowery's skin needs to stay hydrated, so he does this every night…and it also happens to be very relaxing to him, so he wants you to try it, too. All the products he uses are 100% natural and delicate, so if you've got sensitive skin you don't need to worry at all! His hands gently apply them in the right spots, and it almost feels akin to a massage…
…And if you want him to, he can give you an actual massage, too! He's not half bad at it, although he could press a little harder in some spots; but he's afraid of hurting you more than you already are, so being careful is best. Between one spot getting massaged and the other, and a few loving kisses as he works on your tense muscles, you eventually get sleepy…
Which can only mean one thing to Flowery: the lights of your room get dimmed as the two of you climb into your comfortable bed, his arms slipping around your form and bringing you closer to him. Flowery is very touchy, especially when you're having a bad time and he wants you to feel better - or when he's having a bad time himself. If you enjoy cuddles, he's more than glad to provide, even continuing to softly massage some of your sore spots as you try to forget about work and focus on falling asleep in his arms instead.
In the Light World, you might have to endure another day of harsh work tomorrow…but for now, all that matters is that your beautiful flower is holding you close against his chest, occasionally sprouting a lovely little blossom in your hair out of contentment.

- I don’t think he needs to sleep, but I think he’d enjoy pretending or resting while others sleep.
- Plants have their own circadian rhythms so I feel like the flower family/other plant darkworld inhabitants resting periods would be akin to like- the meditative state elves have in dnd.
- But imagine coming across Flowery in the middle of that. Eyes closed, body settled and relaxed atop a bed grown and formed from the plant life around the darkworld.
- You hold your breath, unmoving, not wanting to disturb such a rare unexpected scene. You’re so used to him being so…alive, and talking/moving. Do you brave getting closer? To admire his truly relaxed state?
- No constant smile, no upturned eyes, just a restful blank slate. Peaceful. Your hand reaching out on instinct, keen to smooth his perfect golden hair, or gently caress his face, but you stop yourself just in time. It would be rude if you accidentally woke him.
- Except he was never really asleep to begin with .
- his hand catching your wrist, bringing your knuckles to his lips as he greets you with a sleepy kiss. One eye cracked open to look at you.
- One of his voice clips rings in your head. Maybe “Sorry to keep you waiting.” He wasn’t expecting you to show up at this time.
- he has to finish resting but perhaps you’d like to join him? The spot next to him patted lightly in offering.
- The bed isn’t warm to start with, since his form offers no body heat, but it quickly becomes cozier with yours. Flowey is a gentleman, he lets you choose to simply lay shoulder to shoulder with him or snuggle up to his side.
- If you choose to simply lay beside him you get to listen to eachothers breathing as you enjoy a peaceful moment together.
- If you scoot closer to snuggle up, he’s very inviting. You could drape yourself across his entire body and he will happily let you rest like that with him. Head on his shoulder or chest, arm lightly holding him to you.
- The subtle sweet floral scent of his skin acting like a relaxing essential oil and making you sleepy as you lay there together. Just…resting happily 💛
