I could be wrong but the ending scene gives the vibes that Kris spent a good amount of time waiting at that door. Likely not at the chance that Susie would come back but just letting everything sink in.

The confirmation of one-sided Krusie via their interactions in Chapter 5 does loads for the tragedy of their relationship. I can see Kris just standing in silence thinking about how not only are they losing Susie in the real world but also in the world thats supposed to be an escape from the real.

Kris has nothing to themself.

They feel like they have been overshadowed by their older brother, their family got torn apart, they getting puppeted around, and whatever is going on with Dess and the Knight and the promise.

And Susie was a ray of light in all of that chaos.

Their entire life has been upended and the moment they finally start to connect with someone on a deeper level, a fellow outcast, not only do their feelings not exact align...they are bringing the one they do love into the dynamic.

And they can’t even control their body while all of this is going on.

I like Suselle but man do I feel bad for Kris.

forcibly dragging kris out of bed just as their mother tells them no one can do that. toriel talking about asriel being off at college like its the problem here because she has no clue what is going on with her child. the blank textboxes, kris being practically catatonic and completely unresponsive. susie trying desperately to cheer them up and the few times she actually succeeds, showing that they're still in there, they're still conscious. the slowed music. the empty hometown. rudy sat next to the ladder talking about holidays being full of surprises. holidays and Holidays.

noelle's smile. noelle's panicked pleas to break her free from the hell she's trapped in. her own parallels to kris in feeling like someone is living her life for her while she rots. her breaking, quivering voice when she speaks, and the complete lack thereof when she knows you can hear her anyways.

everything about that ending sequence. noelle taking kris' hand and guiding them slowly towards the lake. the option to turn back eventually disappearing. the noise. the way it rises in aggression and intensity until the static and the ambiance and the sound effects melt and mix together into a horrible scream.
