Ian couldn't believe he was still alive. You can't keep a good dog down, huh? After the big shake - trademark pending - Ian thought forsure he was a goner. And that was okay, really. He did everything he could to make sure Ava got out of that rubble alive and she did. He didn't remember too much after passing out on that rebar, but Ava really did the whole damn thing.
Waking up, on and off, he'd been holed up in the supernatural injuries ward for a hot minute. Long enough for the mustache to make a comeback and definitely long enough to feel kinda gross. He was in the middle of layering on ten tons of body spray when he heard the door open behind him- "Oh! You've caught in a moment of absolute indecency. I hope you like the smell of sandalwood."

Ava still couldn't believe they had made it out of that building collapse alive, never mind in one piece. Thanks to the healing properties of magic, Ava had been up and moving around within a few days, albeit a bit sore and a lot exhausted, but it was taking Ian longer. She was so mad at him for using the last of his energy to help her instead of keeping himself alive, but it had been entirely unsatisfying to glare at him while he slept.
Every time she had sneaked out of her room to visit him, he had dared to be sound asleep, but not today. The scent of him hit her before she saw him–a shifter trait or from his overuse of body spray, she couldn't say–and she was already grinning as she stepped into the room. "You know those are my favourite moments." Without further hesitation, Ava was bounding towards him and pulled him into a tight embrace.
