“A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.”
—
E.B. White (b. 11 July 1899)
“do you still perform autopsies on conversations / you’ve had lives ago? are you still wondering what gender / the voice in your head is?”
— Donte Collins, from Autopsy
mindset. it’s all about mindset. from the moment you wake up to the moment you rest your head at night. everything is up to you. your emotions, your thoughts, your perceptions, your reactions, every moment.
"If I had to name the nastiest thing I had ever done it would be living, not the tirades that have lit enough fury to slander myself, not the way my face fashioned a bucket while most in those late hours fashion a pillow, not even the time where I had spilled adjectives out of jar and attempted desperately to drop them back in, no not at all. I had never met a soul nastier than my own when it came down to being handed two cards: number 1: dying and number 2: living — I threw the first one in the trash"
— Cynthia Chapman

Thank you
for understanding the pain.
Sometimes it’s hard
to talk
when I am overtaken
by panic,
hurt,
and sorrow.
Your softness gives me strength.

“do not try to trample me. i am built from concrete and stone. i have withstood many before you. you will not be the one to break me.”
— Noor Shirazie
It's hard.
Knowing what you want,
making lasting decisions,
It's so fucking hard.
And it's not like hey, there's a fork in the road and I pick one and then happily walk along.
It's like there a fork in the road on every fucking road every two minutes.
There's bound to be some wrong choices,
There's bound to be confusion and regret.
But how do others get it right?
And if no one does, can we all just stop pretending!
“I rise from my worst disasters, I turn, I change.” - Virginia Woolf, The Waves

Not all of us run the same race, though the starts and finishes are more or less the same. But the in-between has different obstacles for each person, no course is exactly alike. We all find ourselves on the sidelines at least once in our lives, so don't judge others who seem to have stalled...it's likely they've fallen on tougher times, insurmountable hurdles they can't even climb on...even if it looks hardly hard at all from where you are, whizzing by. Maybe if you stopped to lend a helping hand or at least stayed still long enough to truly hear and attempt to understand, you would see how easy it could be to find yourself in that prone position if the running shoes were switched.
Running on empathy is the way to go
