Even if Iphigenia comes home, she has spent half of her life away from them. She was almost sacrificed, knife to her throat staring into her father’s eyes and the. She’s spirited away to a strange land where she’s made to perform human sacrifices for almost twenty years. She doesn’t think she’ll ever return home or see her mom or dad or sisters or baby brother or aunt and uncle safely reunited and has to mourn her life while taking life from others.

And when she gets back, she has lost everyone all over again. She lost the chance to see her baby brother grow up. He’s a man now with blood on his hands and his eyes that she’d only known childish curiosity and love in have seen so so much.

She lost her father to her mother. Her father died brutally for something she begged her mother to not grieve. Iphigenia was alive, but she was dead in every way that mattered. So Agamemnon dies.

Clytemnestra becomes not only deep into horrible painful grief, she lets that grief take form into something that hurts her sisters and brother and became someone that Iphigenia would cower from and hate. In her oldest daughter’s name. So she lost her mother to her brother.

She can’t recognize either of her sisters. They’ve grown up, but not into the young women she imagined. Chrysothemis doesn’t know how to exist outside of bending to her mother’s will and abuse. Electra doesn’t know how to exist outside of fighting it.
