~There's Magic Everywhere~

“Please! Just listen to me!” Thalia called behind her as she ran…from a very angry trio of Ursaring. They were obviously too enraged to listen as they chased her down the forest path. She was starting to get tired, but she had to get away from them some- 

OOMPH!

She had crashed into something- no, someone! She panicked as she looked toward the direction she was coming from. 

No, she couldn’t let a bystander get hurt. She knew what she was about to do would be risky, but…

She quickly stood up, held out her hands, and put as much energy as she could into forming a sort of forcefield bubble around the angry Pokemon. She struggled to keep it up, sinking to her knees. Turning to the person she ran into, she started speaking.

“If you’re gonna run…might as well…do it now…! I can’t exactly hold this for much longer…!” 

“… Uhhhh…”

Amber blinked as she took a moment to figure out what was happening. Okay, so she was walking along the road, minding her own business… When suddenly a cute girl was on top of her…

“Oh, wow, I’ve turned into the protagonist of a harem anime!” Amber blurted out the non-sequitur. Seemingly not getting the idea of there being danger, she got up and dusted herself off.

“Seriously...? These...ugh...Ursaring are mad...because they thought I was hurting one of their Teddiursa...but I wasn’t...I was helping it..!” She felt herself getting weaker by the second. “It was caught in a poacher’s trap...and they probably thought...I was the one that trapped it...” 

She couldn’t hold up the barrier anymore. Out of breath, her hands slumped to her sides. 

A very loud roar then erupted from the three Pokemon as they were freed from the bubble.

As Maria made her way along the dirt path, she took note of her surroundings. It was an ordinary day, sunny with a few light grey clouds here and there. Plus the usual hush that fell upon nature when she passed through. The short young lady stopped walking when she saw someone a few feet away in front of her. 

“Do you hear that?” She said, referring to the unnatural silence of the forest. “It is quite strange. It tends to happen wherever I go.”

The young (looking) man looked at the girl with black hair, and then around at the scenery. There was a pause… Then an awkward pause, before the man responded.

“What, encountering people on the road? That’s the only thing I can really think of right now.”

The man glanced away, seeming to have boarded the wrong train of thought.

“Well, I’m sorry to break it to you, but the laws of probability mean that meeting people on the road tends to happen wherever anyone goes. I mean, at the very least when you meet someone on the road, they meet someone too, as a meeting can only occur if both parties acknowledge each other. Without the dual-acknowledgement, it becomes stalking…”

“I don’t mean that. Listen.” 

Not a sound. No birds chirping, no insects buzzing...

“You’re just like my Furfrou. He likes attention, too.” With her free hand, she continued to pet good boof, while letting him gently nom on her other hand. She didn’t mind the noms at all! Even if he had smol sharp teeths.

“Wooo?” Furfrou? What was that? The pup tipped his head in confusion as he kept nibbling on the woman’s fingers.

“Aww, aren’t you sweet? Of course I will pet you, you absolute cutie~!” 

Proceeds to spoil precious pup with the pettings. 

Her own doggo will be all over her when she gets home due to this.

Petting! Petting was nice! Petting was good!

“Excuse me!” Thalia tried to catch up with the person she saw ahead of her. Once she made it closer to them, she stopped, catching her breath. “You wouldn’t happen to know which way the nearest town is, would you? I’m kinda new to this region, and I seem to be sorta…uh…lost.” 

Loud gasps!!!

“So…cute…!”
