i think the biggest issue is the pacing. i could understand it if the chapters were short but something meaningful was actually happening in them. i'm not saying sebastian needs to fight in every single chapter, but until proven otherwise, the latest chapters feel like they're just conversations for the sake of having conversations, without any greater purpose behind them. why should we care about some guy looking for a friend if he dies shortly after? what impact does it have on the story who irina's lover is and what happened to her husband?

yana is incredible when it comes to connecting threads from many, many previous chapters, but i'm struggling to see how what she's doing right now will end up being relevant in the future. we spent half a year teasing the smoking room, then another half a year actually being in the smoking room, and ultimately nothing happened that made it feel like the wait was worth it. modri is a doll, and that's cool, but so what? he's not the first and he won't be the last. we still don't have a clear answer as to whether he actually knows sebastian, and if he doesn't, then why does he believe he does. is it because of undertaker? are his memories real? instead of giving answers, we're only getting more questions.

kuro used to have such a fast pace. red butler lasted 8 chapters. circus lasted 13. phantomhive mansion murders lasted 12. luxury liner lasted 15. public school lasted 18. emerald witch lasted 21. blue cult lasted 21. blue memory lasted 19. blue revenge has been going on for 79 FUCKING CHAPTERS AND WE AREN'T EVEN CLOSE TO THE END.

first of all, no arc ever lasted even two years, and this one has been going on for 7. the hiatus didn't change anything, because in the year since the return, nothing particularly significant has happened. and on top of that, not only are the chapters short, they're also just structured in a boring way. we spent three chapters!!! watching the scene where modri meets the demon. there was genuinely no need to repeat it so many times, because it only built up tension that never received the climax it was supposed to have. it's like setting yourself a challenge to make 10 basketball shots in a row. the first three don't impress anyone, because you can still easily recover. at 5, you start taking it seriously. at 7, you start swallowing harder, shifting your posture, and every next shot becomes careful, slow, deliberate. and when you finally reach the tenth shot, you miss. you don't think about how you succeeded nine times. you're disappointed that the final attempt failed. and that's how kuro feels right now. it's building tension that never gets the release it promises. you don't think "modri's story shook me because everything we knew about sebastian has been turned upside down." you think, "that's it? it ends this anticlimactically?" especially when sebastian just looks at him with confusion in his eyes.

everything should be happening faster. reaching the smoking room should have taken 2 chapters. the smoking room itself should have taken 4, with half of that being modri's story. or maybe it could have been longer if we had gotten some kind of sebastian or ciel flashback alongside it. what took a year and a half should have taken half a year, or a year at max.

agni, snake, and probably p4 will still return, but at one point we would have said they were coming back within months. now, realistically, we're talking about years.

there's too much information that doesn't seem necessary and probably won't lead anywhere, combined with incredibly slow events. we're still on the first day in brighton. in 15 months, less than a single day has passed in brighton. kuro has never had pacing this slow. one day in brighton is incomparable to luxury liner, which could realistically be condensed into a single evening.

It is rather strange to come across such a gross generalization, operating on an assumption that girls are blank slates whom anyone can manipulate and who can't distinguish between real and make believe on top of it.

In my entire "career"(if you can call it that) of engaging with fiction , the girls and women that I have run into in fandoms happened to be some of the most intelligent, talented, cool, witty and insightful people I have ever met. I've devoured the fics they have written. I have delighted in the arts and edits they've made. Their perspectives and interpretations about the characters and their relationships are genuinely fascinating to read about regardless of whether I agree with it or not. They are the ones who are most often at the receiving end of the antis' ire for no valid reason but they just keep deriving joy and inspiration from their favourite characters and ships and keep sharing it with others through stories, art and thoughts. They are not just smart but incredibly resilient, sensitive and aware not just about the media they consume but about the world around them and its issues.
